Re: Fold the set here?

If your read on the opening raise sizes is that good, then you have to fold. If you can read that a 1/2 pot bet is a value bet and not a cheap bluff attempt, you have to fold. You're definitely...

Re: Do you get stacked with QQ vs AA/KK every time on Party? (help pls)

When you bet, get raised, and somebody limp-pushes, it's usually pretty safe to lay QQ down (but if the people are maniacs, get in there anyway). If you just get 2-bet and the flop is relatively...

Re: AK, two-tone board, pot-bet called

Yes, he checked. The converter ate some things. I thought about checking behind, but I didn't have enough of a read to know what a river bet on a blank would mean. Maybe I could get out for 20...

Re: oh the agony!

Had that happen tonight too.. guy whose stack I'd been eyeing all night raises to $5 in CO, LP calls, I make it 13 to go in SB, LAG calls, then LP pushes for like $40.. I think for a minute and call,...

Re: Hitting bottom set on the turn

I think he has a set or a straight, not that it matters which. Would he call with T8s in the BB? I'm sure he'd call with a mid PP. Out of position, he tried to CR the flop and nobody cooperated. ...

Bad suited aces

I'm chiefly talking about A9 and worse, although AT/AJ can fall into the category sometimes.

There's the 5/10 rule for calling with a pair trying to hit a set, which makes sense because your hand...

Re: New NL player, needs advice

Get used to people calling with crap, preflop and postflop, at that level. These are bad players because they call with marginal hands. Don't feed them by bluffing at them (especially more than 1)...

Re: Should this play be made?

I absolutely agree that if his range of UTG raising hands includes garbage like blackjack 20s or Kx20s (KJ, KT, etc), then pushing is correct because you do have folding equity against those and...

Re: Should this play be made?

If you push against AA/AK and get called, then you're +0.04 EV. If you push against KK/QQ and get called, you're -3.34 EV. If you push against lesser hands, they'll almost definitely fold.

So,...

Re: Should this play be made?

Push isn't much -EV against real hands. I said it wasn't horrible. Folding out trash on 1-2 outers that won't pay you off just doesn't seem worth it. Why would you fold AK on those stacks though? ...

Re: Should this play be made?

I'd be happy to go in on the second-best hand (currently) and a monster draw if I were a favorite to get there, or had a real chance to fold better hands. You have to be, or you're just giving away...

Re: Should this play be made?

The problem is that you're not ahead of the most reasonable range of UTG-raised hands. If the guy button raised the blinds, then sure, but UTG raise has to be a tighter range. You're behind 56% to...

Re: Should this play be made?

I don't think that push is right, but it's not the worst. You're trying to catch up on most of his reasonable raising hands (AA/AK/KK/QQ/AQ) and you're only ahead against JJ/TT. JJ/TT are drawing...

Re: TPGK+ OESD against LAG maniac

I'd call here against a nutjob (you have redraws against up to a set, and 3 outs to split and (possibly) 3-4 outs to win against better), not to mention 11 outs (or more) twice against 2-pair, and a...

Re: trips on flop... do i fold?

If you think he'll call a push with TPTK or overpair, push and get it over with. If you don't, call and bet $5 on the turn and the river no matter what. If you don't play that hand for your stack...

Re: When did i become weak tight again?

I got bitched at by the table AND the dealer for something like this. 3/6 game at Lucky Chances, 2 good players, 6 fish, and one person doing his best to appear to be a fish (me). The pot hasn't...

Re: What size bet to make?

I wasn't going to give him credit for the flush draw (he was way too fishy to put on a hand that well). All I was sure about was that AK and AQ would have been raised preflop, and AJ probably would...

Re: Flopped the nuts with heavy action

You have to call that. You know you might be up against a flush draw, but it's going to miss most of the time and you're getting 2:1 that it won't. It's just unfortunate that you walked into a guy...

Re: Short AA hand ( is it correct?)

If you just call, you have 1 bet-pot if he checks to you, and no chance of running him off it he fires first (I'm reading him in the SB). If his hand is a TT-QQ, and an overcard comes, he might get...

I was thinking I was good, but I didn't want to see any more cards come down because the pot was going to get big enough that I couldn't protect it against a decent pair+draw or combo draw anyway,...

Been down $520 at a casino from playing terribly at 3/6 (dumped it all in the first 2-3 hours, then played even for about the next 20 hours straight). I didn't have enough time to get unstuck that...
