What are you doing with that stack?

Why didn't you rebuy? C'mon...

Here's a follow-up question for you. Similar game, 5-10 blinds, JJ UTG, you make it $30 to go. Folds to button, who makes it $130 straight. Is the correct...

Re: Need a poker sim and curious how you\'d play this

Why lead out? You know this guy is going to bet. You're looking at big hand potential here -- straight or flush. You're not even all that worried if he has KK. He's going to call your check-raise...

Re: 2 hands against a world champion...

Firstly, I hope that's referring to the bigger home game, and not the one I was at. There weren't any players remotely close to forcing that when I was there.

Secondly, get that second table...

Re: Live 2-4, couple of AQ hands

This is very good analysis, and a very important point. Good job turnipmonster.

Re: top pair second kicker facing huge turn bet

Why would you want to blind steal in a game like this? The money is made by taking someone's stack, or doubling your own. Not taking $3. This is a trash hand... oftentimes worth a limp, but not a...

Re: No limit in vegas

The $600 buy-in isn't really $600. It's 10-20 blinds, no max buy-in. You need at least $1,000 to sit in that, and you'll be by far the smallest stack if that's all you bring.

Re: An unorthodox hand

For this to work, the following needs to happen:

Gee, there's a ton of money in this pot... but I think the guy was playing T9 and just hit another nine, so I'm going to fold my queens.

Re: An unorthodox hand

Umm.

There's $520 in the pot. You decided BB has an overpair. You have a pair of sevens.

Board pairs. Scary for the overpair guy. But he has to call $40 to win $600 if you bet. He's not...

River bet

Tewall,

I think the river bet is not only good, it is crucial.

Remember the fake-bet check. This implies to me that he has something decent, but wants me to check behind me. No one is tricky...

Results and question on thought process

Matt,

I called, for just that reason. As for the recycling, I did get up and leave, and put my name back on the Must-move when I returned, but unfortunately chose to sit 30-60 instead and...

Results and Additional Information

One thing I probably should have added was that this player had called a pot-sized bluff on the river I had made on a board of AQT75 with A6 offsuit, when I had JJ. He didn't do this on a tell, he...

Another 10-20 NLHE hand

KQs in the cut-off. Two limpers to you, you make it 100 to go. One caller, directly to your right. He's weak, prone to making some bad calls, and also throwing out an occasional bluff. Just weak. ...

10-20 Bellagio NLHE

10-20 Bellagio NLHE, Main game. Must move game was very juicy -- big bluffs being made, mostly being called. Main game was a lot tighter, and very few pots were being contested. Biggest stack was...

San Diego Area

Going to be in Rancho Bernardo for work next tues, wed, and thurs. I don't know the San Diego area at all. I know of "Ocean's 11" at Oceanside, but that's about it. I'm looking for 30-60 or 40-80,...

Re: Bellagio 60-120

Why do you play Commerce during the day mid-week? I've only played on weekends since I work all week long, but I imagine the games are quite different. I play with all the gamblers who are just...

Re: Commerce 30-60 Check-raise to get a free card

Good thoughts in theory.

But in my experience of playing that game for the past 3 months, you don't get a fold anywhere near 1/3rd the time. More likely 1/8th the time. People with AK will call...

Re: Heading to Vegas -- Need non-poker suggestions (beer, women, music)

Vegas is all about the clubs. If you're looking just to talk to women, V-bar ain't too bad for that in the Venetian. Much smaller. If you're looking to "hook up," learn how to do it in a club. If...

Commerce 30-60 Check-raise to get a free card

(I believe it was) Josh W's post last week made me think about getting that free card with a check-raise from early position. I didn't even have to be super dramatic, as he was.

I'm in the BB...

Bellagio 60-120

Off to Vegas this friday for March Madness. Generally play at Commerce (which has a heck of a lot better games than Vegas), but this weekend it should be full of tourists with money to burn. Not a...

Re: Hook, line and sink-sink-sinker

MP ain't raising you with 43 on that turn. You're beat on the turn. Probably badly.

River makes things a little bit interesting. If he was playing AK or KQ, you've just jumped ahead. Still,...

Re: 10-20 2 hands all fold to an LP

Hand 1, may as well throw out a raise preflop, but otherwise that's fine. Your read is he's on a flush draw, it hit, and you didn't lose an extra bet.

Hand 2, fine preflop, fine on the flop... I...
