Re: $100NL AQ hand, good fold?
a solid player also means he's aware of position, and would raise with mediocre hands like a9, a8 in position folded around to him. I might even reraise preflop with a hand like AQ (as the button, he...

Re: Blatent bluff, or easy laydown?
With no read, absolute easy laydown. Don't try to call down "bluffs" so much. In the end they'll go down against someone with a real hand. Sometimes just give them credit for having enough moxy to...

Re: Am i falling into a bad pattern
There's a reason why you don't raise hardly ever with sub-premium hands, and this is one of them. At least you're not the super-aggressive idiot internet player, who tries to buy the pot after...

Re: Easy fold? 6max 50NL Party
all the replies previous to me have forgotten the main question when calling a reraise with AK. what are the styles of the players? I'm sure at a loose table though, poker instincts take over and...

Re: TPTK against weak lead and weak raise
If Villain2 made a STRONG reraise on the flop (i.e $7-10 in this case) you have a valid shot at calling this one and hoping that villain1 will fold. Then he will bet into you again on the turn and...

Re: KK in the CO
[ QUOTE ]
Without a read on the villain, I figure I'm looking at AA here much of the time. I'd probably raise the flop (as you did), but fold to the push, and wait for a better opportunity to get...

Re: Gross 2/4 hand with J7s
BB obviously had a set or at the very least AJ. What I don't understand is why you're betting out so much on the flop with such a weak hand. You could easily have bet half the pot and still make the...

Re: What\'s my line here?
I suggest not raising at the flop with the nuts with a rainbow board. You have the absolute nuts at this point and a raise at the flop alerts the better into slowing down his play. Furthermore, the...

fold the flopped flush to a meager double-the-bet raise? I can't believe my ears.
He could be raising with ANY SORTS of hands....a set, a straight, even two pair. Note that he didn't tell us what...

Or even better, if you can get a good read on him, with the flush card coming on the river, how bout CHECKING? He might go all in trying to steal the pot.

Re: Are my brains leaking from my ears?
I don't agree with this strategy one bit. How do you know that raising preflop can "rule out" the j9 or 96?
Furthermore, even if you raise preflop with such a mediocre hand you'll always get...

Re: What would you do?
Think about it for a moment. You put 50 cents into the pot so far. You don't know what MP1 is going to do (more likely to call). But worst of all, you're probably facing either a coin flip or a 4/1...

me thinks he had Q10 or the like. Good play. One thing about your play here, if you know he doesn't like to give up his hands, maybe try to squeeze more out of him preflop...say $4?

Re: Starting hands?
Don't forget position. Position is key in NL, especially 6-handed. You can play MUCH looser when you're on the button than when you're in the sb.

Re: TT vs Loosie - Party $50 NL 6-max
What could he possibly raise with? with such an uncoordinated board, flush/straight draws are unlikely. A set? Then again people love to slow play sets, like the poster above pointed out. So he could...

Re: 20+2: calling an all-in preflop
The raise is pretty standard with blinds at 25/50, that's about 4x the bb. That's fine.
The all-in call is iffy, especially since with AQ and a tight player you're probably at best facing a 50:50...

heads up you can always assume he doesn't have the flush. In reality though, how can you really tell? Top pair with a great kicker is usually enough reason to push on the flop heads up, no matter how...

Re: am i playing like a pussy?
Hand #1- yes you are. You should bet the flop because he could catch something on the turn/river and steal the pot from you.
Hand #2- Reraise the flop and see if he goes all in. Don't reraise too...

I don't think the limp from MP is horrible with a4 suited.
Note on the flop you're against two people....the initial raise after the BB bet really depends on what type of people the sb and bb...

Re: I folded AK suited
I think a big mindset is how late it is into the tournament, are you in the money, how far are you from the money, etc etc. Obviously if there are only 20 payouts and there are 200 people, you should...
