Re: stud8 dilemma
It's easy to say for me now that I have seen what happened, but I'd taken a free card on 5th just to avoid what exactly happened. You're beat high and have now low, combined that with looking at...

Re: 20/40 high: Marginal
I like raising 3rd here, but you can play it either way.
Since you did not raise 3rd and the pot being so small on 4th I would have folded once I bricked on 4th. There is not much to chase and...

Re: Noobie 4-flush question
I would raise simply because if you do manage to get heads-up you now might be able to win by simply catching an Ace. If you do get callers you don’t mind since you have a strong drawing hand.

Re: I don\'t normally post \"fun\" hands
Capping 3rd is certainly OK, you could easily be up against QQ, JJ, or maybe even TT, 99.
Your opponent played poorly after your re-raise on 5th. Both your hands are so well defined at that point...

Re: I played this wierd.
You should have raised 3rd (maybe you would have had more info and the hand would have played easier).
6th and 7th: with 1 Ten left to fill, you are not likely to make a full house so it's a...

Re: What the Hell?!?!?!
From your opponent's point of view, you raised first in with the lone high card giving you a "steal" opportunity. Villain does not have to give you trip Kings on 4th and can play back at you at that...

Re: Can i get away from this
I don't like your raise on 4th, your hand screams draw and you beg to be 3-bet there by the Queens. Plus 2 of your straight cards are out already making your draw not all that strong. Maybe you're...

Re: Weak tight?
Clubs are pretty dead, and a lot of people bet a 4 flush on 4 cards, since seat 8 did not I think it is likely seat 8 is betting Queens or perhaps 9-T-J-Q. I'd check-raise and lead 6th if neither...

Re: I can\'t win - not bad beat post
This is the old "make a small mistake by calling, make a huge mistake by folding".
If you were last to act and had seen the AJ fold in front of you, you probably would have made a cry call because...

Re: pair of aces
In general, there are 2 streets you are most likely to get people to fold, 3rd and 5th street. Most people who stay in on 3rd stay in on 4th, and most people who stay in on 5th stay in on 6th (and a...

Re: subpar hand....subpar opponents
I’d be really worried if an overcard to my pair calls 3 bets cold, especially if the player is the more "sane" one of my opponents. The saner seat 5 is the more likely I would be to lay down the...

Re: starting hands
If it is passive game, meaning not a lot of raising so you can see 4th street for cheap, I'd play any live 3 flush including Th-6h-3h.
If it is a aggressive game I would not play the small flushes...

Re: $20/40 stud hand
Hey Andy,
Why not reraise after UK raised? You said you wanted to see what transpires and that's why you limped in. You got your info by the time it got back to you: a couple weak limpers, a...

Re: Dumbest play you made in 2002?
A bonehead play that turned out great:
10-20 Hold'em. Solid, but a bit of a rock, player raises in early position. I had put my cards on top of each other and looked at the bottom one, a King. ...

Re: Stud 8: Muck an 8-7 on sixth?
I would have raised on 3rd street. 3 suited low cards is a solid starting hand with scooping potential that should be raised even though 2 of your suits are out. You only have the 6 and the...
