Re: All these college kids who want to go pro
I think the original post is good advice for college students. If you are in college, finish your degree. The more well rounded you are with your education, the better you will be able to handle any...

Re: Top 5 Worst Golf Tips Of All Time.
The other one that I think nails beginners is "keep your back elbow straight". They shouldn't be bending their back elbow like a baseball swing and it should be bent only a little, but hitting the...

Re: Best Song Covers
Yes I agree the Skynard version of Simple Man (studio + live versions) are better than Shinedown. I'm in a band that does this song.
One great remake is James Taylor "How Sweet it Is". This song had...

Re: NL and Limit profit
I found PinkSteel's post interesting - some good thoughts there.
I play $200 NL now and there are plenty of bad players at that level - but as others said "bad" is relative. I always look for some...

Re: Could This Be Avoided?
Fold Preflop.
Post flop is OK. If you had hit your flush you would have tripled your money.
Dan Harrington's new book covers the topic of what to call a raise with pre-flop.

Re: NL and Limit profit
I can't stand limit hold em either. I used to play 7 Card stud, and when no limit got popular I switched to NL hold em. Only being able to double the blind before the flop and only being able to bet...

Re: AA v. Minraise on Lowish Flop
On the question of whether to go all in, I agree with Trail of Tears that other lines may be preferable.
When villian raises on the flop to $70, there is now about $140 in the pot and hero has about...

Re: What is the ideal game for me?
Since you are doing better at No Limit, I'd suggest staying with that.
Personally I can't stand Limit Hold Em. I had very little interest in the game before NL became popular and instead played 7...

Re: AA v. Minraise on Lowish Flop
I'm new on the forum also. Sometimes it takes a day or two to get an answer.
For me this is a tough question, so I might be tempted not to say anything because I'm not sure if there is a "right"...

Re: This Is An Easy Fold, Right?
If I call the $12 and there is an all in reraise and the button calls the all in, then I can call and thats OK. Now I'm all in against two players with the Ace high flush draw, plus the dead money in...

Re: This Is An Easy Fold, Right?
I think the pre flop call is fine.
After the flop I would call. One of the other players may have a flush draw also, which is great for you if the flush hits. If at least one of the other players...

Re: Did I play this right?
I agree with Doomslice.
The preflop action is OK, you are only up against two opponents and you have a hand that is hard for your opponents to read. A lot of times preflop action can make it obvious...

Re: A Set of Threes - Monotone Board
Yes you should raise here on the turn.
BB bet is weak, maybe a flush draw.
As for the caller behind you he called a preflop raise and your flop bet. He could have 1 diamond - If he called with a...

Re: AA hand
I usually don't like to commit my whole stack with an overpair, but with Aces I am willing to make an exception sometimes. I would have considered going all in here.
The raise to 15 preflop is huge,...

I'd call the River also. I usually don't like to commit my entire stack on an overpair, but this is Aces. He could have a lower overpair. The pot is offering you 3:1 odds. I'm guessing you're better...
