Blocking Bet Burn
$200 NL Hold Em. Both players have full stacks.
Hero is on the button with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Calls $2 bring in. No raises, 5 Players. Pot $10 Flop is : A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Middle position caller bets $5 Hero Raises to $15 Other players fold, middle position calls. Pot $40 Turn: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] MP bets $10 Hero calls ?????? (raise? if so how much?) Pot$60 River 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (board is a straight) EP bets $30 Hero calls EP wins with A 6 or hearts - a six high straight. I think I should have raised the turn. On the other hand I hesitate to pump up pots too high with 2 pair. Thoughts ?? He had 7 outs - three 6's and four 5's. That gives him a little better than 6:1 odds to win. For his $10 bet he got $50 on the turn and then $30 on the River, giving him 8:1 payoff. Good play for him. |

Re: Blocking Bet Burn
I like how you played it. I think sometimes you're just destined to lose money. It's tough to re-raise on the turn with only two pair I hear you.
awesome blocking bet on his part. I think he should have bet more on the river -- you have to put him on A6 to fold the river, so I think you're calling a pot sized bet there, aren't you? |
