Re: Overall Tournament Strategy

[ QUOTE ]
I know this reflects conventional tournament wisdom, but I think it's very poor advice. In Party tourneys where there is no ante, the structure allows you to get lower. If the cards...

Re: first hand of a sng

Nearly every poker book I've read says that AK is a good raising hand, but not a good calling hand. (And, of course, that in no way means that you never call with it.)

At best you are up against...

Re: first hand of a sng

Hmm... There are more than 1-table SnGs. Both PP and PS have 2 and 3-table. Seems multi-table to me.

Re: Overall Tournament Strategy

You put a lot of thought into this and I appreciate your time. The only thing I would add is you have to know when you're beat.

Re: Early tourny, tough spot

My experience early in the tourny is that it is hard to steal blinds when they are small.

However, since the blinds are up to $50, you have been sitting here long enough to know whether stealing...

Re: The \"Loose Table\" Rule

Hmm... Lately I have had my premium, high pocket pairs called (3-4xBB) and beaten by 62s, A6o. It gets frustrating. So I play tight in the beginning. The problem with this approach is that you often...

Re: Multi Table struggles

They are stalling, hoping that others will get knocked out and they will slide into the money. "Burn" has no significant meaning. It's an expression--buring up the clock.

Re: Blind War

Some of these guys will call anything hoping that an A hits the board. Can't tell you how many hands I've had to lay down after trying to push a caller out with big bets--A on turn or river.

On...

Re: First post on new forum -- bubble conundrum

It's really a question of how deep you want to go into the money.

The bubble is a good time to push with this hand. Only the big stacks will call. Most people are folding all but pocket AA or KK...

Re: Best MTTs on Party/Empire?

Stars and Ultimate bet start you out with 1500 chips, compared to PP's 1000

Re: What do you think

Party players are slow anyway. I have visions of them checking charts and reading sections in books before deciding whether to through 15 chips in the pot. Somethimes it makes we want to commit...

Re: Best MTTs on Party/Empire?

Yeah. I neglected to mention the 20-minute intervals (is that fairly new?). I have more problems at PP than anywhere else. And yes the hand-for-hand is aggrevating.

Another complaint I have about...

Re: KK Hand...early

You are not pot committed. If I had him JT or a set of jacks I would fold. If I had him on a pair of jacks or flush draw I would call. However, since you have said nothing about how he has been...

Re: Best MTTs on Party/Empire?

I play PP, Stars, UltimateBet and just started at Bodog. Of them all, PP's structure is the worst. They start you out with less chips, have a clunkier interface, and fewer low to mid MTTs. Not to...

Re: a hand MLG and Tyler disagreed about

Hand should be mucked pre-flop

how about not making a big bet, and just making the normal bet you would if you hit the flop.

Re: How to play AA when short stacked

I would just call and hope to get as many callers as possible, and go all-in later whatever the flop or turn is.

This really depends on how short-stacked you are. If...

Re: How to play AA when short stacked

I'd say go all-in. The big stack will probaby try and take a shot at knocking you out with anything that seems reasonable

Re: Passing up small edges early (revisted yet again)

Re: Passing up small edges early (revisted yet again)

Hmmm...

I neglected to point out in that poll thread the DS says not to call an allin bet early in the MTT because it is most likely the allin player has AA.
