I probably should have added that I had played very few hands and showed down only premium hands.

I pushed and she folded. I showed 88 and she got very upset like she may have tossed an overpair....

If he didn't verbalize a raise I would take his actions to be a call but the danger in that is apparent from your question. As you were heads up, turning your hand over before "calling"...
