Re: ratings please
If you are serious about tournament poker you should read this book. His concepts on "gap theory" are well worth the read. You should read it once and then re-read it again, this time paying more...

Re: a hand vs. John D\'Agostino
You need chips and need them fast. I would go all-in. Good chance you will be called too. No need to be cute here. I agree with the previous post.
What were you trying to achieve by slow playing?

Re: To play this hand?
but your hand does not stack up well heads up. Your opponent just needs a king to be favourite. Given the small raise I would be doubly suspicious.

Re: First hand of $30 Party MTT
Your bet before the flop was fine. Your bet after the flop was fine. Your bet on 4th street was a mistake. Given that you did not win after the flop you have to put your opponent on either the nut...

Re: To play this hand?
Fold - no question about it.
Your hand is a great hand for ring play in big pots, but not heads up. Also, given he has made the running you need a stronger hand than this to come over the top....

Re: Hypothetical situation
This is a good post!
One thing it depends on is whether you are the best player in the game (or one of the better players). If you are not you would take the 65% chance to double up every time.

Re: How would you play this flopped set?
Your low on chips here, I would play this hand as fast as possible. The first to act as put a decent size bet in and by coming over the top all-in you are likely to double up. I would not worry about...

Re: How would you play this flopped set?
I would have gone all-in after the flop with a possible flush. There is not much value in slow playing becuase your opponent was low on chips and might be looking to go all-in. Make him/her pay for...

Re: Was This A Good Call Or Bad Call Based On...
The original call here was not correct we all agree on that. To make the call after the flop he/she must have had you on AK or AQ or something similar. If you had one of these hands you would have...

Re: very basic NL pre-flop question
I would raise.
If you show strenght preflop you might be able to steel the pot if a scary board hits or get a free card if you have a chance of completing your hand.
Also if you hit your hand...

This is a tough one. Did you have any read on that particular player from previous hands?
Was he/she constantly in pots coming over the top, or was he/she tight?
For a solid player I would have...

The worst no limit and pot limit players tell you exactly what they have by how much they bet. IF they have an ordinary hand they bet small, a good hand medium, the nuts they go all in, and so on....

Re: NO LIMIT VS. LIMIT RING GAMES
I tend to think that no limit has a smaller variance. This might be strange, but I think this is the case because you can kick players off of flush and straight draws much more easily. In no limit...
