Re: Did I play this hand ok?

You would accomplish the same with a 3-4x BB bet. w/ blinds @ 200 and the villian having only ~1200, calling 600-800 more commits them to the hand anyway.

Re: Did I play this right? where was mistake?

I still prefer raising pre-flop. People are playing tight so you will only get called down by a hand that has something. I don't like like limping here, cuz BB and SB get a cheap shot at taking...

Re: I dont agree with FossilMan here

[ QUOTE ]

One note - You claim you were going to limp if the pot wasnt raised in front of you, but thats definitely the wrong mindset to have in this situation.

Re: Wired 8\'s in NL Tourney -- result

I thought about it for a few seconds then moved my entire stack in. The button thought about it for really long time before he finally called. The SB and BB folded. Cards turned over and I was...

Re: Wired 8\'s in NL Tourney

I limped exactly with the intent of hitting my set or folding, as that's all I figure the 8's were going to be good for after all the limps pre-flop. Now, when the maniac bets weak on the flop and...

Wired 8\'s in NL Tourney

A hand came up the other day that I was wondering about. It'd about 2/3 way through a multi-table tourney. I have about 27000 chips, which is just about average. At this point in time, the antes...

Re: rebuy tourneys

You're right. If you have a satellite where the winner takes all, it does not appear to be a diminishing effect as you add in more chips.

I worked out the example again, this time assuming that...

Re: rebuy tourneys

Never mind the second case, it still works out.

Easiest example is if you make it an extreme. You pay $11K for 11K TC, everyone else pays $1K for 1K TC. You paid $11K to win $20K, so you need...

rebuy tourneys

I was reading an earlier (length) thread on rebuys, and I don't know, but it seems relatively simple to me. As long as you are as good or better a player than the field, it makes sense?

The way I...

Re: Someone please tell me I made the right move here....

Horrible call. BB risks 9K to win maybe 900? Even if he's raising a hand that doesn't want to be called, it's probably better than A-rag. If you call, you wager the rest of your 3.5k for 4.4k. ...

Re: Sucked out in low limit pots

I know what it feels like when you start good, flop even better, but then get sucked out on.

Here's the way I think of it: I can either have a table of people who "play" properly and only get 1...

Re: Hero to zero in 2 hands

No faults with your play at all, just unlucky. I do find though, that players are more likely to call your big-reraises if you've just taken a bad beat. They often (incorrectly vs a solid player)...

It is a possible, but unprobable holding, without having any other information. We didn't didn't have any information about the kind of players that were there. In any event, you can't go around...

Re: Moron

I don't agree w/ checking the pot, but do you think all-in is appropriate? Poster didn't indicate how much he raised pre-flop, but you've only got 250 + 2xRaise. Lets say he raised to 400, then...

Re: Result

Don't beat yourself up on this one. He made a few poor decisions pre-flop: first he called with QTo from EP, then he calls a raise with a crap hand. Even if he's calling 300 for 650, what kind of...

Re: How to play AA

I might grit my teeth and jam them all in there. EP limper probably doesn't have the straight yet. A set is possible, but the limper checks on a dangerous flop. If he put you on a draw, there's no...

Re: Rate each player\'s play...

I definitely agree with most that the pre-flop call w/ A8 was pretty loosy-goosey play. But what do people think about calling a pot-sized bet on the flop?

In this case, player A showed pre-flop...

Re: Top two pair on turn, opponent flopped trips, any escape?

When I raise pre-flop, bet the pot and am called, lead out on the turn and get raised on a board that has no draws, I start to get suspicious that I've been trapped. A lot of this will wind up with...

Rate each player\'s play...

Hand I observed the other night.

Two players in mid-position. Blinds are 75-150. Player A has 5500 and Player B has 8500. Average stack is about 5000 and there are 70/90 players left.

Player...

Re: Critique please

Implied odds are horrible excuse to make a call here. What kind of flops are going to make you feel confident enough to push in your entire stack? 772, 777? It's really rediculous. 7-2os is the...

Re: Opinions of how I played this hand

Pre-flop, this is a pretty loose call. KJo is a big time trap hand, and you're playing it from bad position. If you are going to play it, I'm not certain that a limp is the best idea. By limping,...

Re: What happened..

75 TC from the blinds plus 3 other callers, so the pot was 225 by the time it got to me. My stack was about 975.

What happened..

I pushed all in on the flop. A pot raise didn't leave me with much anyway, so I pushed in. All folded to the cut-off who called with middle pair and a heart-flush draw. I think he had 7h 8h or...

TP/TK vs 2-flush board, early in tourney

Playing a NLHE tourney, about 50 players starting, maybe 45 left. Structure seems to make for some pretty shallow money. We start with 1000 TC, blinds were 25-50. Play has been a bit wild, as many...
