Re: Folding is dumb

I am now realizing this.

I goofed. Calling is certainly better than folding.

Re: Interesting No Limit Question

1 in 3 is purely mathematical.

Higher than that is intuitive.

I find it odd that a "good player" would make a bet that is pricing "IN" the flush draw if he doesn't hold the J...

Re: The Call is Correct. Expection = +$400

What about a small or moderate bet on the river assuming you no longer hold the nuts.

What bet is too large to call a "freeroller"? Notice that if he makes a raise that lays you the exact odds...

Re: The Call is Correct. Expection = +$400

I'm still saying FOLD.

I just said that calling wouldn't surprise me. I think calling leads to more complexities that people are bothering to figure into their calculations.

Re: Let me clarify something.

Thanks for the well thought out response.

I wasn't questioning how often he had the J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif, I was questioning why he would only reraise with the bare J...

Re: The Call is Correct. Expection = +$400

You havent' included a couple of scenarions that while ulikely are entirely possible.

1)J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif is held by the flush draw behind you, and he raises a large ammount that is...

Re: Interesting No Limit Question

Exactly the AJ /images/graemlins/spade.gif was just a response to people that misread the post and said:

1) How do we know YOU don't have the J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif
or
2) If Mr....

Re: Folding the Nuts

First of all, I said you KNOW this opponent and you KNOW he has AK. He isn't pushing with just a flush draw.

This was a fictitious scenerio designed to illustrate a point. That point is that...

Re: Folding the Nuts

I should have stated that you have at least as much money as your opponent. I'm sure most people assumed this.

If you KNOW your opponent has AK, you can't call here.

You seem to have a...

Re: Let me clarify something.

Where did you come up with the fact that he will only raise you all-in with the bare J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 1/3 of the time?

A good player will realize the situation and put you to a...

Re: IF.....

If on the turn he pushes with the J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif:

Anyone with a straight cannot beat him regardless of the river.

Anyone without a straight, would be making a mistake by...

Re: Interesting No Limit Question

Hypothetical Scenario :

You raise, and another player moves all in. He shows you the J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif but not the other card.

You can now call getting potentially freerolled,...

Re: Let me clarify something.

What if the bare J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif raises all in and you fold? You just pissed away 1400 to fold a hand that couldn't lose.

Re: Interesting No Limit Question

On the turn you hold the nuts.

The nuts on the turn is not a very powerful hand unless it contains the J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif.

That's what I've been saying all along.

Folding the Nuts

You are playing NL.

You are headsup on the flop with an opponent you know well.

Flop: Q /images/graemlins/heart.gif J /images/graemlins/heart.gif T /images/graemlins/club.gif

You have A...

Re: Interesting No Limit Question

His chances are at least 1 in 3 that he has the Jd, since you have the Js.

I think it's highter than that.

I\'m going to bed

I've argued enough for one day.

I'm still convinced that it's a fold. One more thing - if you call and button calls this opens up a whole 'nother can of worms on the river depending on what...

Re: ANOTHER SITUATION

River diamond.

Checked to button who bets 1/5th of pot.

What's your new definition of almost?

Re: Interesting No Limit Question

He couldn't confidently push on the river.

He could confidently push on the turn if we so foolishly reopen the betting.

Re: Let me clarify something.

If you're going to fold to a raise which could easily be made by the bare Jd, or call a raise by Jdxd because of "current" pot odds yet are getting freerolled, yes a call can be wrong.

ANOTHER SITUATION

No one has the Jd.

You call, button calls.

River: diamond, or board pairs.

Now what?

Now you have to determine the frequency in which each player will bluff, and decide whether or not to...

Your odds that he has another diamond are based on random card distribution and don't take into account the fact that he would be much more likely to play a suited hand that contains a jack than...

Re: Sticking to my guns

My question is this:

Can the Jd make a raise of a specific size that makes both calling the bet and calling the raise correct as separate events, but incorrect cumulatively?

Taking into account...
