Minimum raise??? Horrible... Move in
Move in push the flush draw out. Even if somehow he calls you are a 2:1 favorite with the nuts, even if you split.

Re: Interesting No Limit Question
Raise big. You have the best hand right now, and the only wany you can be beat is with a flush made on the river. Therefore, you must raise big and force out all those on a flush draw. Most players with four big cards on the flop wont call on the turn just for a 20% chance of a flush.

Re: IF.....
[ QUOTE ]
Any player holds the Jack of Diamonds, he doens't even NEED to KNOW what his other card is. He can shove KNOWING he is getting much the best of it. Do you see why? [/ QUOTE ] Okay, I'll be the first moron to say it - NO! Is it simply because if he has the Jd, he knows that I don't? And if he assumes I also have a straight, I couldn't have a flush draw...so if I re-raise and knock the flush draw out, he can put me all-in, KNOWING I can't beat him Is this what you're getting at?? But what if he doesn't know I have a straight? David only said we can be pretty sure HE's got a straight...not that he knows WE've got one...for all he knows, I could have a set or 2 pair, and if that's the case he would not be free-rolling even if he had the Jd. |

Re: Minimum raise??? Horrible... Move in
moving in is just the worst play in poker history, given this situation.
anyone who thinks you should move in "deserves to lose" |

Re: E - Raise a lot (at least bet the flush out)
[ QUOTE ]
Even if it is less than 2%, you're risking your entire stack of 10000 to win only 650 on that 98% chance. [/ QUOTE ] Which is +EV even without considering that the other straight folds when he doesn't have J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. |

Re: IF.....
If on the turn he pushes with the J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]:
Anyone with a straight cannot beat him regardless of the river. Anyone without a straight, would be making a mistake by calling the turn bet without the odds to improve. If his opponents would call with a set, two pair, flush draw, or even 2 pair+flush draw, they would be taking the worst of it. He's freerolling any other straight, and any other hand that needs to improve to beat a straight isn't getting nearly the right price to call. |

Let Me Interrupt
to say that it does not matter if you interpreted my statement that "the player behind you has a flush draw" to mean he has no straight or to mean that he could conceivably haye a straight as well. That might have been ambiguous but it doesn't change the answer either way.
I won't return until we beat Shana. |

Re: Interesting No Limit Question
[ QUOTE ]
Can we really assume that the flush draw can't also be a straight, and at the same time, that the straight can still be a flush draw? [/ QUOTE ] That is how I interpret the reads in the question. |
