Re: How to play this AK?

Yeah, I realized later that I should have pushed preflop rather than make that weak raise. Of course it wouldn't have helped in this case because I doubt he'd toss his AK at that point, but it would...

Re: How to play this AK?

Thanks for the feedback. Before I post the results, it's time to fess up. I reversed the players in this hand. I was actually the rock in the BB, and my opponent was on the button with AK. I posted...

How to play this AK?

Online multi-table NL hold'em tourney. Top 50 places get paid. There are 56 players left. Blinds are T300/600 with a T50 ante. I have about T8000. I've got A/images/graemlins/spade.gif...

Re: Late play as the chip leader

Yeah, the numbers I posted were out of whack with the question I was asking. Sorry about that. That's what I get for posting so soon after an early tourney exit on a bad beat (KK went down to 87o on...

Late play as the chip leader

I've got a rather nasty hole in my game that I'd like to work on. It's the specific situation where we're down to the final four in a single table tournament that pays top three and I'm the chip...

Re: macintosh compatible sites

One thing I have found about Virtual PC is that it seems to run much faster with Windows 2000 than anything else. Win 98 is a dog by comparison, and I think Win XP requires more horsepower than my G4...

Re: Playing AA in big multi-player pots

Who said anything about four tournaments in a few years? It's not that rare in the cheap tourneys.

Thanks to Pzhon, who hit me over the head with a fact that I was ignoring: In a multi-player...

Re: Playing AA in big multi-player pots

Okay, now we're getting somewhere. You call with AA in the 4-opponent all-in situation because the pot odds are so high. Fine. Then you would also call in this spot with KK, QQ, JJ, TT, 99, and 88...

Re: Playing AA in big multi-player pots

Thanks for all the sarcastic answers. That's what I was expecting, because it's obviously a ludicrous question. If I really ever considered folding AA preflop in any situation other than on the money...

Re: Playing AA in big multi-player pots

Followng up my own post...

According to a table in Ken Warren's "Winner's Guide to Texas Hold'em" for hands that are played all the way to the river, AA is an 88% favorite against one opponent,...

Playing AA in big multi-player pots

Fairly early in a $2 NL tourney at Planet, blinds are T15/30. I have A/images/graemlins/club.gifA/images/graemlins/spade.gif UTG. I open for the minimum raise to T60. Two MP limpers, then short stack...

Re: Mistake with KK?

There was a typo in my original post. I said the BB had K/images/graemlins/club.gifQ/images/graemlins/heart.gif. He actually had K/images/graemlins/club.gifJ/images/graemlins/heart.gif. That's why he...

Re: Mistake with KK?

It was a limit tourney, as I stated in my original post. So raising to T2000 was my only choice.

Mistake with KK?

Four players left from a small 3-table limit hold'em tourney. Top three get paid. I'm the short stack with T4000 left. Blinds are T500/1000. I've got...

Re: NL - Playing high pairs just outside the money

I just recalculated to be sure. The actual number is 75.8%. This comes from about a year's worth of online multi-table NL holdem tournaments. 527 tourneys in total, of which 124 hands contain the...

NL - Playing high pairs just outside the money

What's the best way to play big pairs when it's late in the tourney and you're just outside the money?

If I make an all-in move when I've got a big stack, I'm not likely to be called. I usually...

Paradise rebuy/addons

Is anybody playing these new rebuy/addon tourneys at Paradise? I haven't seen play this loose since the last time I sat down at the free money tables. I'm a pretty good NL tourney player (I make...

Re: Mistake with KQs?

I'm not a big fan of playing KQ UTG either, but I thought I had a pretty good shot at the blinds, given how tight I was playing and how tight most of the table was playing. I figured they'd run from...

Mistake with KQs?

NL hold'em tourney, down to 29 players, pays top 10. I've got T11,000 which is good for third at this table. Blinds are T150/300. I've got K/images/graemlins/diamond.gifQ/images/graemlins/diamond.gif...

Re: Omaha Hi: Playing unpaired starting hands

You know, the weird thing is that I do better with these high card starting hands in Omaha/8. So many people will see the flop with A2xx, A3xx, and other small card hands, that when I do get an...

Re: Omaha Hi: Playing unpaired starting hands

No, the question I wanted answered was whether it's worth it to even play four high unpaired cards at all, given the frequency at which the board pairs and the likelihood that with so many callers in...

Re: Omaha Hi: Playing unpaired starting hands

It's true that I don't need a pair in my hand to make a boat or quads, but what are the odds that I'll catch a perfect board like that? And if I do catch one, haven't I crippled the deck to the point...

Re: Omaha Hi: Playing unpaired starting hands

Buzz, thanks for the calculations. You answered many of my questions, and a few I hadn't even asked yet.

The 42% figure is probably closer to what I'm looking for (ie. one pair hitting the board.)...
