Re: KQ in BB
It's not worth calling the river if that's what you mean. I see a few dozen hole card combinations that would play out that way and beat you. The flop raise was questionable as well -- with 4...

Re: Folding an overpair
It's unlikely that UTG will raise after you call, considering that he already called once. If he does raise, though, you call it again. What you've already put in the pot is a "sunk cost," so to...

Re: Folding an overpair
You had 4 outs to a full house (K or 2), giving you ~9% probability , or pot odds of 10.5, to catch the flush. I count 13.5 BB in the pot. You had the pot odds to call the raise, not to mention...

Re: Confused about Odds in Holdem (P.S.)
Ayayay. We're agreeing with each other. I read your other posts (Some numbers to chew on) and the article. All good stuff. My apologies to Dave if I insulted your intelligence. Onward and...

Re: Confused about Odds in Holdem (P.S.)
You only need 2 bets to run with it after the flop assuming you're going all the way to the river. If you miss it on the turn, you need 4 bets in the pot on the river. But that's probably a moot...

Re: Confused about Odds in Holdem
With all due respect, gamingmouse, your calculations are great, but consider the point in learning of the questioner. He's thinking "There are 13 cards in a suit and 52 cards in a deck, so I've got...

Re: Confused about Odds in Holdem
[ QUOTE ]
1.Do I only need 2 bets in the pot BECAUSE I KNOW I AM GOING TO SEE BOTH CARDS, i.e. I am going to the river for sure?
[/ QUOTE ]
Think of it this way. You have a 25% chance of...

Re: Opponents\' range of hands
[ QUOTE ]
I wonder if that sometimes leads to a tendency to just play my hand without enough consideration of what the opponent may be holding, and what that means for what actions I should take...

Re: TT - I cannot play this hand
You definitely should have folded the river. You were right to bet after the flop and not wrong to reraise. All good to this point. When MP1 bet despite the King and an Ace after capping you on...

Re: Fold this straight?
What the heck, play it. Then slap yourself on the hand, and count it as "advertising hand," win or lose. You shouldn't be in the pot anyway with that particular hand from the blinds with only 3...

Re: Microlimit table selection?
I agree with the previous two posters, but would add that it's not worth much time perusing the tables. There's so much turn-over, things could change in a heart-beat. While relieving fishes of...

Re: Small pocket pair

Been on a little bit of a downslide recently and I think its my way too aggressive play.

If that's the case, you may want to scale back on how aggressively you play low...

Re: 88 flops a set

nice hand. PF limp is just fine. not raising this flop would be a war crime.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. I haven't made up my mind on the PF raise with an 88. Maybe middle position if...

Re: One more hand: medium pocket pair
I think your play was correct. My guess is that your opponent was holding a JT, and successfully hit the gutshot. You still played it well. You have to protect your set of nines by raising on the...

I don't know about SlantNGo, but I need a bit more convincing before I stand corrected and agree with you all that betting the pocket eights is the right thing to do. We're talking about a "Typical...

Re: Balls o\' Steel - KQs
I agree with Pete. I too would be inclined to bet it. Sure, you're risking being beat by the spade flush, but you've also got the top pair with a good kicker and a possibility of a straight if an...

Re: Pocket eights in a raised pot
I don't think betting with a pair of eights against four other players when a K shows up on the flop is a good idea, especially when the person on the button raised before the flop. You really need...
