Re: Stupidest poker strategy/statements ever heard...
[ QUOTE ]
"you see, every straight has a ten or a five in it... so if there's no ten or five on board, you know for a fact that nobody has a straight" good gracious. that one is so incredibly stupid I find it hard to believe someone actually said it. [/ QUOTE ] what's worse. the actual quote or the fact that i smiled and said "hey, that makes sense!" |

Re: Stupidest poker strategy/statements ever heard...
I net more with KQ but win a greater percentage of the time with AK. So, at least for me, KQ is better. I think its usually because Aces and Kings tend to kill the action on the wuss tables I play. With KQ, I think I make the most when a Queen flops as the high card. People don't get quite as spooked, compared to when a Ace or King flops, and will keep on betting with middle or low pairs. That's my theory on the psychology behind the KQ advocates anyway. Still, AK wins a greater percentage of the time, and I might be able to net more from it if I played a bit slower before the flop in early position. Who knows.

So wouldn't you rather have A-Q?

some passive idiot: Why would you raise AK or AQ before the flop? That's nothing, you just have Ace high!

[ QUOTE ]
My favorite was in B+M, waiting on the rails 3 hours to get through the 134 people on the wait list. I heard the guy next to me say, "Sometimes I fold if like, there's been like a raise and then a re-raise." Key emphasis on the word, "sometimes." [/ QUOTE ] Priceless! You can sense he has done something very, very wrong and he feels guilty about it |

Re: Stupidest poker strategy/statements ever heard...
After I raised the turn with a set, and got check-raised by a rivered straight a guy told me that I should have waited until the river to raise to see if the board paired.

Re: Stupidest poker strategy/statements ever heard...
One time i was playing a .25/.5 limit game at a moose lodge. 5 handed. This old timer tells me that aces suck and he would much rather have A8. He said if it was no limit then he would rather have AA, but since this was limit, he would much rather have A8. I just laughed.
