Huge variance over 1000SNGs (33s)

After all the posts by players running bad/breaking even for 30-40 tournaments and positing I just wanted to post a good illustration of some real variance (at least thats what I hope it is.)

I...

Re: $33 A full HH

I would have pushed the K5 hand from the button with 150 blinds. Otherwise I would probably have played it the same.

Re: Another check-up

According to ICM the call yields a $EV of between 0.025 and 0.033 (depending on his pushing range). Even though ICM doesnt work optimal with big blinds, I still can`t see giving up on this call if...

Checkraised on the turn, easy fold?

50+5 tournament. Villain is a solid player who is probably capable of making some moves. I have been fairly aggressive and raised the last pot to 300 and stole the blinds with villain as BB.

NL...

Playing AQ level 4 55s

I always seem to mess up with AQ in the mid stages of the games. Party 55 STT.
Situation:
50/100 blinds, 6-7 players left.
I am in early position with about 1300 chips with AQ.
The rest of the...

Re: Bodog 100k Today

Out in 78th. All-in with TT called by bigstacks 99, flops the set, but he riveres the straight. Though one.

Re: Pushing range vs. 2+2er with 500 blinds

I ran through it earlier today, with a different call% and calling range. Thats when I got $EV-0,006. Using your range I get:
Fold 0,2174
EV push 0,205956033
(SB calls with top 10%, BB calls with...

Pushing range vs. 2+2er with 500 blinds

What would your pushing range be here? The BB is a 2+2er and knows I am too. I expect him to call with 75% of his hands. SB have been tight and is probably not calling without a top 10% hand.

30+3...

Re: Just started playing $109s. Two bubble HHs for dissection.

I was just going to tell you that your wide calling range probably was a big leak in your game, but then I ran the ICM calc:
Hand 1: 49.7891 % [ 00.45 00.05 ] { AA-55, AKs-A2s, KQs-KTs,...

Another TT hand 5-handed

That other post about the TT on the bubble reminded me of a TT hand I played myself earlier today:
30+3 STT
UTG 630
Hero 1610
Button 750
SB 490
BB 6520

BB=300 SB=150

Re: Pocket 10\'s on the bubble!

I agree, this is a clear push. You are not that much in front of the small stack. Cant lay down TT here.

Re: Did i have short enough stack to make this push?

Dont know if it matters much as you will probably be up against overcards or a higher pair most of the times anyways. And 22 probably doesnt do much worse vs the calling ranges then 55.

Marginal +$EV situation

When do you let a marginal +$EV situation go and wait for a better spot?
From a 30+3 I played yesterday
100/200 blinds
Stacks
UTG 5500
Hero 1200
SB 1600
BB 1700
Hero T7s
UTG folds

Re: genoa_st step 5 higher -- he made a correct call

Of course that was what I plugged into the ICM calculator I dont think it would have accepted 1, 0,3, 0,2 /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: genoa_st step 5 higher -- he made a correct call

With Rojo pushing any two I get the following win%
genoa 35
bikkje 47
rojo 18
Which gives a $EV of the call:
0.3052*0.35 + 0.1211*0.18*0.43= 0.116
Actually a small decrease in $EV.

Re: genoa_st step 5 higher -- he made a correct call

If that is correct, the conclusion has to be good call. Of course that is assuming genoa read bikkje for being able to call an all-in here with a hand as bad as AT.

Re: genoa_st step 5 higher -- he made a correct call

Lets see if I can do this:
Before the hand starts genoa has a stack of 1305, but he is in the big blind so if he folds his stack will be 1105 = $EV0.115. This is when I split his blind between the...

Re: 55 in SB on bubble

Why would you call half your stack with a hand like J6 here when you know the SB won't push without a decent hand? I think you might overvalue your image as someone the other players can't push over.

According to tournament poker for advanced players, it is usually correct to move in with AK if your stack is 2-5 times what is already in the pot. I think you should have pushed here, probably...

Re: TT - mistake?

The 20+2 Pokerrom SNGs probably have better players than where I play then. If that is the case and you cant trick anyone to raise you then it really comes down to how often you expect to get called....

Re: TT - mistake?

With a 13% chance of being dominated and given that you would never get called by a hand you dominate you would have to win the blinds here abiut 30% of the time for this to be +CEV. Probably a lot...

Re: TT - mistake?

I would push here. What will the next blind level be? 150/300 or 200/400? If it will is 200/400 you will not have much FE if you fold this and your blinds. I think I would push anyways though.
