Re: TV Show recommendations
Firefly.
When you're done with that watch Lost.
Finally, The Sopranos, Alias and 24 should meet general approval with the people here and they are great shows (though Alias has been going down...

Re: missed bets?
Raise the turn, call down if 3-bet. You'll see overpairs and TT here a lot more than Q9, 97 or a flush. You have a 10 outer if you are drawing against a flush.
Next hand.

Re: review: hand 59
Interesting. I was thinking bet the river in a classic Clarkmeister flush theorem, but does the theorem include baby flushes as hands to pull this with?
The hands that you fold that are better...

Re: Where you at?
I normally raise preflop, although CO seems tight enough that limping KQo can't be all that bad either. Any read on the tightness of UTG+1?
Tough hand. It looks like a set but you are getting 11...

Re: Here\'s a weird one
There's only one combination of AA and one combination of KK possible. In a big pot you want MP to fold. You don't care about WA/WB really, you just want to do what you can to win the big pot and...

Re: BB defend and I go passive.
Looks fine if you think he's willing to steal liberally. Check raising the flop only puts in extra money when you have the worst hand, while check calling lets him bluff into you with continuation...

What I meant when I said "no reads" was that I had no reliable PT stats based on my one orbit of play, although the blinds hadn't been active in that one orbit

Yes, but have you ever read anything that Ropey has written? There are certain types of players where any two cards are positive expectation.

Yes. But against most...

I didn't realize there was so much science to this, my raise seemed and seems fine to me and I don't think it's even marginal. But the math is impressive

If you are attempting to "steal" the blinds, explain to me why your hand is important.

Re: AQo vs way too big a field, man this sucks.
I agree with the sentiment that the flop raise is no good, but against some opponents it is fine. If you expect to both buy the button and get a free card very often in this large pot, this is a...

the problem i see with check/call in this spot is that while you keep the pot small, you also give others decent odds to draw to their 6 outs against your pair.

Re: 49o in the SB

Is folding the flop an option? It's probably what I would have done, figuring the pot is small, MP3 is going to have a queen or six or pocket pair sometimes, and, against some draws, I'm...

49o in the SB
Villian hasn't done anything that has caught my eye. Probably slightly loose, slightly aggressive, willing to bet the flop with a wide range of hands if checked to.
With a small pot, tightish...
