Re: Call on the Bubble?
Of course stack size matters. He started with 4320. Putting yourself in a race (likely scenerio) if you get called seems like unnecessary gambling. With a stack like that outplaying opponents...

Re: Push or just wait until the money?
I agree, I lost a ton of money when I used to think "I know this guy can't live through SB even if he get's lucky once. He doubles up twice, I've folded the best hand I've seen in 30 minutes, and...

Re: All in on bubble with AQs - dumb?
I was just rereading parts of Sklansky's "Tournament poker for advanced players," earlier today and he covered this exact situation.
His take is this is a very slight -ev move. Thus if you play...

Re: Things about Party fixed SNG 10$-50$
The praying for cards in the end is the thing you are oh so right about. I like to do O8 sng where limit is pretty much the option. I feel like I can value a hand better than most shorthanded which...

Re: Things about Party fixed SNG 10$-50$
At less than $55, they aren't that long. There's only 8000 chips on the table. the blinds get to $500/$1000 about 10 to 15 minutes after a NL game would have ended. There's 4 people left standing...

Re: Error error does not compute
Prior to programming STEP tournies they didn't support those either. That's pretty lame. If they believe they can make more money off it, they'll do it.

Re: Beating bad players
Everytime I get knocked out I mark whether I had a significant lead in the hand prior to the all-in or not. About half the time I'm knocked out I'm a sizable favorite. Most of the other times I'm...

Re: Short-stacked all-in with 52s. Correct play?
If you call and win, you're ev is .15
You fold this and your sb your ev is .035
I think you should call... but I've also come back from stacks of 200 to win it all, but I think that takes a lot...

Re: Overpair + flush draw
My guess is he's playing AK.. one of those may be a good flush draw for him... plus he has his overcards.
His 3X the BB pre-flop is very standard (though he didn't account for the limpers), and a...

Re: What is the play,,,
Playing the A-10 and hoping for a miracle straight or 2 pair flop isn't tragic, considering the measly 5 chips required to complete the blind.
However, what is the goal when the flop misses you? ...

Re: Coinflips in SNGs
If you hit a low limit table on PP with 5 rocks that play decently, you're going to have the fate of the cards cruelly determine your outcome some of the time.
I was in a game yestday where 4 of...

Re: Laydown KK here preflop?
A ton of threads already exist to that say don't lay down KK.
I can't even figure out what part of the hand scares you unless you've played with the all in guy 1000 times and never once seen him...

Re: first live tourney - chop at final table?
The danger in not agreeing to a chop of that size is people will be gunning for you. With 10 left this seems impossible to do. With only 4 or less though, it's very easy. The three that want a...

I think the FAQ here is very good and gives varried opinions on every subject if you read the linked threads. I don't think any book by any author would be as good, because then you're stuck stuck...

Re: Where\'s the Line
For the level 10 buy-ins I disagree. Why make your tourney a crap shoot? If $10 buy in is the level you can afford/correctly play at, then play it smart and play to win. Just firing into pots with...

Re: Where\'s the Line
I think this is great low limit advice. The big thing is, if you can win the table late, why race early? If you can get all-in on the button though with AK and 3 limpers, this is generally a great...

Re: $1k SNG Hand - Opinions?
I think you did it right. I don't think you want to play the JJ. You just want the pot taken down. Against the grand majority of hands that Fanning is willing to raise in this position, that's...
