Re: Good Fiction Poker Books

In my opinion, in order of quality, there are two ficitonal books where poker plays a central part that are worth reading.

The best is "King of a Small World" by Rick Bennet. This book looked...

Re: Poker Rooms in North Indiana Area

The 3-6 game at Trump and the 5-10 game at Harrah's are both pretty soft. You will run into a lot of bad players of both the passive and overly loose kind. Some games will have a maniac or two. If...

Re: Recomend a book on horse betting for my dad

If you were teaching an advanced seminar on thoroughbred handicapping you might include these books:

Re: Need info on Chicago are card rooms please

Your best bet are the casinos in Indiana. Specifically, Harrah's in East Chicago and Trump in Gary. A cab would cost much too much. Harrah's has information about it's bus on its' web site. They...

Re: Card rooms in Chicago proper

See my post in this thread. Harrah's also has a bus which runs from the same location in Chinatown. It leaves at the same time as the trump bus (10:15). You need to have a Harrahs players card to...

Re: Card rooms in Chicago proper

The easiest bus to take to get to the Trump runs from Chinatown. You can take the red line subway train to the Chinatown stop which will put you a block from the bus stops at Cermak and Wentworth. ...

Re: One more reason not to play at Trump IN

I play at the Trump in the 10/20 game most week days. I think the main reason to play there is the fact that they rake 5% instead of 10% and that many days (during the afternoon) the game is made up...

Re: I\'M GONNA BE ON TV!!!

Hey Gavin

Your fellow Chicago players are proud of you (and you are certainly the hero of the dealers at Harrahs, East Chicago). Congratulations on your victory!

Re: I\'m looking for a good backgammon book.

The two best books about backgammon are Paul Magriel's "Backgammon" and Bill Robertie's two volume set "Advanced Backgammon". These books are expensive and somewhat hard to find but are the most...

Re: Harrah\'s East Chicago trip report

It is very unlikely that there will be any expansion of poker in Illinois unless the Legislature expands the number of gaming positions. Sadly, this does not seem likely any time soon, under the...

Re: Trip Report - Trump Casino, Gary, IN (somehow turned very long)

Harrah's almost always has multiple 5-10 games going (sometimes as many as five or six). Hollywood in Aurora often will have two 5-10 games. The games in both places are very soft at that level,...

Proper Fold???

I am playing in a 10-20 game that is playing like a 30-60 game because of the presence of a lunatic who is capping most hands pre and post flop.
I am in the cutoff and am dealt A...
