Default Brief Harrah\'s East Chicago Report

I arrived around 8 and found the room half-full. There was only one $5-10 HE game, and they had a seat, so I took it. Even though it was the only game going, I was pleasantly surprised that the game was good. Players came and went, and we got a little of the higher-limit players waiting for seats moving through, but the cast of regulars were loose-passive, and there were just as many moving up from the $3-6-12 as there were that left the game for higher ground. So, overall, good.

Only one pot was capped pre-flop - I had QQ, and both KK and AA were also out. No jackpot, but an easy flop fold when a K hit. AA lost some money, though. Another easy flop fold was my KK in LP and a flop of A-2-2 taken 7 way for 1 raise. One of the blinds won with 42s.

KK held up a different time, and 1010 was 1-for-2 unimproved. Other than that, the money was made on hands like AJ flopping an A or J, AKs which made a flush, and hands like 67s hitting the 2 pair or trips. I took no terrible beats and am definitely getting better at not marrying big hands, laying down the KK and QQ above, and folding AKo pre-flop knowing I was tied/coinflip at best against the particular raiser. One questionable hand posted in the SS forum.

I left +$102 at 1:15am. The room seemed to fill in later (after all the fireworks were over?), and when I left there were 3 $5-10 games going and they were calling new higher games too. The $2-10 stud game hit the jackpot pretty early on in the night and broke after everyone got paid.

Anyone going to be there this coming Friday? I think I'll visit again, probably arriving around 11. Let me know.

Come on over and give Trump a try too. I was there on the 4th and the bad beat jackpot was about $24,000. I wasn't playing in an eligible game, but that should draw players unless it gets hit by then.

I like Trump, too. I definitely go there when my short-rolled buddies want to play the $3-6 instead of $5-10. I usually end up in the $3-6 game when I go.

Sounds like you play higher, or NL, but any idea how the $5-10 is at Trump? Is it still full-kill? How about the baby NL game -- does it go on Fridays? That might be a selling point if I can get some cats to come with me on Friday.

Thanks,

Right, I play 10/20 or the NL.

My wife plays the 5/10, and there is a full-kill on that game. Apparently the game was a little sparse on the 4th, but the room wasn't really jumping. They had two tables going, I think.

The NL game does go on Fridays and continues until it breaks. Unfortunately, it has broken by the 4th, and though we got a small interest list going we couldn't restart it. I haven't been able to play in the NL game in a few weeks, but I'm betting it's about the same as when I left it: a few tough players and a few shot-takers.

See you around.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the trump shuttle (price, where it leaves from, hours)? I've only been there once, but after my pocket queens were limp-reraised by pocket sevens preflop I think I'd like to go again.

No. I won't see you at Harrah's. I am O.K. with Trump.

Regarding the Trump Shuttle. The shuttle leaves 15 minutes after the even hour from Chinatown. I think it runs from 12:15 pm to 1 am or so. You can call the casino and they'll give you the exact schedule and the address of the stop.

The price is $2 which gets you the ride down and back. I believe the Harrah's shuttle is similar.

The Trump shuttle leaves from chinatown every two hours on the even hours (10:15, 12:15 ect) and returns on the even hours (1,3,5 ect) last shuttle back to Chicago is at 1am. You can also take the Majestic Star bus (free - leaves chinatown on even hours 9:25 am, 11:25 am ect and returns on the even hours and runs all night) The Harrahs bus leaves from across the street from the Trump bus on the even hours (10:15 am, 12:15 pm ect and returns on the odd hours at the top of the hour. This bus costs 13$ and you must have harrahs players card. You get the $13 back at the casino)
