Nexgens look great with edge spots (if you pick some good colors). I think they sound good, and they cretainly are great for custom labels -- a real good value for the price.

That looks like a quality problem with one batch of blues. I have many NJs and Chipcos, with only some minor chips/dings on the edges. It happens with lots of handling.

Yes, mineral oil (applied sparingly) will sharpen up the colors and protect the chips. Some people say it "hardens" the chips a little bit and they aren't quite as soft as natural clay.

For $1 chips it works real well, but for higher denoms it gets a little bit too pricey!
