Re: 5/10 Stud Hi - I reraised 3rd with AK6......

My thinking behind the raise was, I'm better than 4-1 to catch an A,K, or 6 on 4th; and if I raise, I'm likely to cut the field down to 1,2,or 3 opponents, at which point my hand is likely to be best...

5/10 Stud Hi - I reraised 3rd with AK6......

7 Card Stud High ($5/$10), Ante $0.50, Bring-In $2 (converter (http://j.1asphost.com/greenage))

The game was soft. I felt my hand was too good to fold on 3rd, and not good enough to call, so I...

5/10 Stud Hi - Bad river fold?

Hi; I lurk a lot and don't post much, but I had a couple of interesting hands recently I thought I'd post.

I gave this a lot of thought before folding, and I can't decide if I made the right play....

I get +1 instead of -1, 3(-3b^2+2b+1)/4.

Oops - I got the same, but I typed it in wrong.

Re: Another One Card Game Theory Problem

A summary of the solution:

Let a = A's final card
Let b = B's card
Let x = A's bluffing frequency after drawing
Let z = B's calling frequency after A draws and bets
Let y = A's pat-bluffing...

Re: Another One Card Game Theory Problem

[ QUOTE ]
Let a be A's card and b be B's card. B needs at least 1/3 chance of winning to call A's bet of the pot.

If b < 1/3, then A should always bet and B should always fold.

If b > 1/3, the...

Re: typed solution

I thought about it more, and I think it makes sense that A's edge is very small.

If A's strategy were to never pat-bluff, and B was aware of this, then B would always draw if A stood pat. This...

Re: I don’t know Why !!!

[ QUOTE ]
Just wondering, what's the rationale behind the first equation?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think I can explain this one:

Just as the second equation stems from determining player B's cutoff...

Re: Classic Type Game Theory Problem

[ QUOTE ]

PLAYER A:
If y < 0.5, stand pat if holecard is better than 0.5, draw if worse than 0.5
If 0.5 < y < 0.586, stand pat if holecard is better than 1-y, draw if worse than 1-y.
If y >...

Re: typed solution

[ QUOTE ]

I've already done the overall EV calculation and it's:

EV(A) = 0.5062
EV(B) = 0.4938

and I'm pretty sure it's right.

Re: Classic Type Game Theory Problem

Oops, I meant:

So, to summarize:

PLAYER A:
If y < 0.5, stand pat if holecard is better than 0.5, draw if worse than 0.5
If 0.5 < y < 0.586, stand pat if holecard is better than <font...

Re: Classic Type Game Theory Problem

As was pointed out by someone else, I think you made a mistake in B's EV when pat. I fixed the your post, and found a strategy boundary (for a different reason) at y=0.586, if I figured correctly.

Re: Reraise the river in 8/b?

Calling the river sounds good to me; while it's probably a split, if anyone is scooping, it seems that it's more likely him than you.

Would it also be a call (rather than a raise) if he had led...

Re: online pot limit stud

Any of the Prima Poker network sites has it - they offer it at several limits, there's always people playing at least at the lower limits - they offer it down to 25/50c

Ok, thanks guys - I put him on a flush from his betting and because his ranks were so dead, but I realize now that he easily could have holecards like T9, AT, KT, or worse (or two small clubs for a...

Sincere apologies Buzz /images/graemlins/blush.gif- I had quickly glanced at one of your calculations, but I made a mistake in interpreting what the numbers meant. Now I see what you did. (in fact,...

Re: nut draw plus crappy low

I'm no expert, but I think this is a fold, you have lots of outs but you're still drawing, and most likely for half the pot. And the original flop bettor is still behind you.

If your call would...

Re: KQJ10

Hi, my first post here in the Omaha forum.

I did some calculations, and here are my numbers (I think they're correct):

With KQJT, you'll flop:

KKx, QQx, JJx, or TTx (including boats and...

Re: Smart laydown, or bad fold?

Thanks for responding, I think probably my fold was too conservative - I like the line you propose.

But I think the 90% you mention is off, because that assumes that I make the flush; I'll only...

Thanks for responding Andy, I was curious to hear your thoughts.

Big pot - $.50/$1 Stud High

Was having a down session (was playing a little too loose-aggressively) when this hand came up. Anybody play it different? Too aggressive early on, or on 6th?

Re: two pair against possible low straight, bet river?

I can't see any reason to bet the river. Anyway, he can see jacks up on your board; so the only thing he'll possibly call with that won't be beating you or splitting would be queens, or kings up,...

Re: Hello! Interesting 5th Str.....Chap1...

Hi all, my first post here (been lurking for awhile)

It looks like a fold, but I'd hate to fold if all he has is the nines right now. His call on 3rd and his min-bet on 4th suggest that he may...
