Re: Bad push?
To call an all-in with 2nd pair, crappy kicker, this guy had a good read on you.
Ask yourself why.
You had been attempting to steal, but now you're limping. Your steals were getting called. If...

Re: Is this a bad beat?
I look at it similarly to sloth. If I'm holding a K/6 into a limped pot, I have to believe I'm best with any king and would call that all-in bet, believing that the bettor was just trying to take...

Re: Two KK hands
Hand 1:
Consider betting the total size of the pot or more. 200 into a 270 pot with 2 clubs on board makes it all too tempting to call by someone who's holding 2 clubs in their hand. Especially in a...

Re: Backward moving button on Party
I am not a party player, but considering the hand history you showed, I believe they do indeed have it correct. However, you seem to be misinterpreting it.
What you advocate them doing is...

Re: Backward moving button on Party
Pokerstars would have done it a little differently. Rather than skipping the SB, they would instead let the one guy get lucky and miss his BB on hand 2, but put in the SB instead, with the next guy...

Re: QQ in mid of NLH tourney
Thanks for the responses guys.
Results:
Hero has Qs Qh (two pair, kings and queens).
MP1 has As Kc (three of a kind, kings).
Outcome: MP1 wins
So I ended up busting out of a tournament...

Re: Pot odds question.
Your chip stack matters as well as your implied odds.
First off, if your call would result in you being all-in or nearly all-in, then you can indeed go with the odds all the way to the river and...

Re: How bad can a loose call be? Plenty
Big problem in your logic:
When you are taking the losing end of the draw, you are paying $50 and losing an average of $20.
When you are on the winning end of the draws, you are reducing the...

I alway cringe when I hear this statement. This is a sure sign you are not being honest with yourself.

Re: What percent of players actually win?
Another college student here that's relatively new to poker. Can't give you a percentage, but I can say that I'm up. If I wanted to, I could be up more than I am.
My play goes something like this:...

Re: How to win MTTs: (or how not to be a fish)
Don't get me wrong, I like what you're saying. I hate the slider (all-in) approach to MTTs, but I've been having issues trying to play in a similar style to what you recommend.
While trying to...

The problem will always be partial information. Mathematics does not effectively deal with partial information. In an attempt to counter for this major problem of math, mathemeticians create things...

Re: My new hypothesis on playing \'junk\' cards!
From my understanding (a bit of a newb here too), you are indeed correct rob0506. A hand like K/Qs is rated above A/Xo in just about any rating scale, yet the A/Xo will win more than 50% of the time...

Re: Internet Poker Vs \"Real Poker\"
Understand that early in a tourney, the blinds are nowhere near the size of your total chips. With blinds at 10/20 and 1000 or 1500 in starting chips, an 80 chip bet (4x BB, the usual recommendation)...

I'll foreward this post by saying that I'm not all that great of a player, but I tend to do rather well at the crazy tables.
I've found that for any poker game, you want to play slightly tighter...
