Re: \"Bubble\" hand - $540 daily Bellagio

A couple comments. 1) If I was planning on folding to a reraise, I think that $8k was a better bet. It accomplishes the same thing for a smaller amount. 2) The opponent almost always has to have a...

Re: $2500 NL hand vs. Vinny Vinh at the Borgata Open

I don't know if the whole acting routine hurts you or helps you. I think that in the grand scheme of things, you're better off just playing your hand against someone who's a pretty regular live...

Re: \"Bubble\" hand - $540 daily Bellagio

Remember there is about $1500 in blind money making the pot a little over $5k. I'm not sure that a flat call here is great since you're going to have the blinds getting the right price to call with...

\"Bubble\" hand - $540 daily Bellagio

Six players left, five make the money. Hero has $17,800 (about average) and the blinds are $400 - 800 w/ $75 ante. UTG folds, next player (short stack) moves in for $3700. Button and small blind...

Re: 40-80 hand #1

FWIW - the SB is a 54% fav on the flop. Add in the fact that he's getting a bet on the end when he makes it and doesn't have to pay off when he misses, I think waiting until the turn is a "blank" is...

Re: Results

Games like that require total commitment, and the fact you left $1k or so of equity on the table proves that you've got way too much money anyhow.

I know it is easy to blame the other players for...

Re: Results

That really is the metagame consideration that everyone needs to understand when thinking about this hand. We had three solid players in a game with one total fish. The three of us were a lot less...

Re: Results

OK -

Then I mean a "strong solid player" would do this every three years. A "total maniac knob" like Clark can't help himself but to find different creative ways to dust off his chips each and...

Re: Results

Here's why this hand is funny/interesting. I had been raising many, many hands (as evidenced by the K9s here). It is also very important to note that Clarky and I have played quite a few hours...

Re: Checking The Turn

And I check behind you getting a free draw to my ace of spades . . .

I really like making a bet here on the turn since letting your opponent have a free draw to a spade or to AQ or AJ or a set...

Aces in the big blind

Playing 5 handed, $20-40 no limit. Button open limps, small blind makes it $100 more to go, hero looks down at AA in the big blind and makes it a total of $360. Small blind calls. Both players...

Re: ADVICE SEEKED!

Bet the turn here, and IMO it is not even close. You are leaving all sorts of bets on the table when it looks like you're ahead (ie - they all checked!). You are getting at a couple of big bets...

Re: An Interesting WSOP scenario...

"Especially if I'm sitting at a table with a bunch of unknowns, where there's a good chance I may be one of the best, if not the best player at my table."

I would be surprised if this was true. ...

Re: Saving money with KK

3 betting the flop will cause no one to fold and make the drawing odds better for another gutshot call on the turn. The best place to raise is the turn, because they are all going to see that card...

Re: Hand to Talk About

Mason -

As with many of your "Hands to Talk About", my initial reaction was "Huh?" But since you have taught me a thing or two (or a hundred), I will start with the premise that your play was...

Interesting NL \"Varkoni\" Hand - Bellagio

Last Friday at the Bellagio $540 NL tourney, I busted out on this hand. I ended up out in 7th, where the top 5 got paid off. I had a lot of respect for all of the players at the final table. ...

Re: Mirage 20-40: KK on the button but an Ace on the flop

It would have to be an awfully weak player who would call me down without that A for me to bet the river. Sometimes I'll check the turn with the intention of calling the river, but the backdoor...

Re: central Virginia games

1) Allow only one or two "newbies" per session. They will get acclimated to the game, and the game will grow slowly but surely.

2) Require an RSVP, with a couple of alternates. If you RSVP and...

Re: Selling unregistered securities on the Internet ?

In the past, perhaps the SEC sent a simple "cease and desist" letter. However, due to the recent enhanced public scrutiny of the SEC (because of Enron and WorldCom), you will likely simply be shot...
