Re: Betting and Game Theory post
I can't help you find that post, but Matt Matros's book ("Making of a Poker Player") talks briefly about this. He made the opposite assertion -- i.e., that 1/3 - 2/3-pot sized bets are superior to...

Re: 77 vs. maniac
Bizarre hand. The big overbet at the end reeks of you being beat, but who knows with maniacs?
I want to say raise somewhere, but with ginormous stacks and a crazy opponent, it just seems too...

Re: Hand reading skills
I'm positive SB has 99. BB's play is bizarre, I would guess some kind of 8 but really anything is possible.

Re: JJ OOP
If you're sure he'll bet it, and 3 bet your checkraise half the time, I like that line. It has potential to squeeze a lot out of a worse hand, and punishes his excessive continuation betting.

Re: theory-ish question
Raising these preflop (in position) will make them easier to play.
You say you raised for information, his call says you're beat or he's drawing to beat you.
The problem is (as you noted)...

Re: KK UTG, 4 callers
Open-push is your only option. Sure, you could get cute and bet half-pot, but any conscious opponent will realize that you're pot-stuck and that your bet is equivalent to an allin.

Re: 4-handed against Loose players
Play more hands (not less) against loose, bad players. They are the definition of implied odds, so try to limp your suited connectors and small pairs. They're eager to play in raised pots with...

Re: NL50 Bet this river?
Wouldn't a turn bet (in position) be more likely to shut out a worse ace, who has to worry about another bet before showdown?

Re: NL50 Bet this river?
You can't fold if he raises his last $12. You need some kind of read that he's terrible, especially when the table is so tight that you're only getting action one time in 10.
Without a read like...

Am I missing something when I convert?
[/ QUOTE ]
There's a new converter (http://zerodivide.cx/converter/) that works the same way but doesn't have these problems.

Re: a pocket ACES problem...
3-bet bigger preflop. Many of your opponents will way, way overpay to see a flop, and then the remainder of the hand is very easy to play.
Always be aware of shortstacks in a 3-way pot. If you...

Re: QQ, need help with pot control
[ QUOTE ]
This is entirely not true. Calling a reraise pf, does NOT leave you playing QQ for set value. You are attempting to get more money from AK that misses/lower pocket pairs, and you are...

So what is your action on the flop assuming you called the reraise to 12 and your opponent leads out for 20-25?
[/ QUOTE ]You fold. The flat call leaves you playing for set value or a...

Re: Did i handle the ladies correctly?
Against a 50BB stack and getting 2:1 on a board where lots of draws could push, I call here. AA/KK seem unlikely, and you aren't totally dead against 89.
This hand plays itself if you 3-bet...

Re: NL 1-2 JJ/KK vs preflop MANIAC

Playing in this kind of situation, I also considered more passive play pre-flop and try to get the money in against the maniac with 80/20 and 90/10 situations. That would be better than...
