Re: I love Ed Miller

Ed,

How about a definitive small stakes Omaha Hi/Lo book. I'm trying to use some of the small stakes hold'em concepts in the local B/M game. There are usually 6-8 people seeing the flop in a 4/8...

Re: reviews on book that chronicled the Andy Beal game ?

Great book. Just read it in 2 days. Very entertaining and gets into of the minds of the pros and Andy Beal very well. I'm sending my dad a copy for Father's Day.

Definitely gives you a newfound...

Re: bad run of cards or playing worse?

Add me to the party. Online and B/M. Loose aggressives taking everything, autoraisers with hands like T6s65 walking away with $500. Raising 50 pct of hands in kill pots. People winning with lows...

Re: Theoretical Questions regarding Poker Bots

Yea, honestly I haven't read the threads on chess vs. poker. It was just a quick thought using the analogy. For average play, I think it would be possible to make a decent bot.

Re: Theoretical Questions regarding Poker Bots

20 years ago, computer programs could beat an average to above average chess player. Now off the shelf chess software can beat a very high percentage of players. The best software has beaten the...

Re: The Oaks Cardroom - Emeryville (Poor decision making)

I was supportive right away and said you should pursue it. Congratulations on the good result.

Re: The Oaks Cardroom - Emeryville (Poor decision making)

You're not kidding about the degenerates at the Oaks. But San Pablo isn't much better. In 3/6 you're paying 2 for the SB and 2 on the button so you're basically obligated to play 3 hands every...

Re: The Oaks Cardroom - Emeryville (Poor decision making)

I feel for you here. There are some low-life angle-shooters for sure who frequent the Oaks Club. Also not surprised Boomer made the ruling. He seems like the type who would rather appear like he's...

Re: THE WORLDS BIGGEST TOOL @ THE TABLES

Rico is typical of about 30% of the players at the Oaks Club. Maybe I'm underestimating.

Re: Sklansky Carlson chart

My first guess is that more hands would be willing to call 22 such as overcards like KQs but are still just a little better than 50 pct to win. I could be wrong but it seems that it's due to the...

Re: Improper shuffling - how to exploit?

[ QUOTE ]
If I saw you put the A 6 spots in, I could calculate where it would appear in the deck after 7 perfect out-shuffles and I would know who had that card. To say that no player could discern...

Re: Improper shuffling - how to exploit?

Yes, I have covered this. I think you're getting hung up on the word "random". Call it "proper mixing" or something like that instead. We could sit here all day and argue that any kind of shuffle...

Re: Improper shuffling - how to exploit?

Some of you are getting denser and denser. It's not about whether you can track the position of the cards after n shuffles. In that case, the 9th shuffle results will equal the 2nd shuffle results....

Re: Improper shuffling - how to exploit?

Thanks tpir, that's along the lines of what I was looking for. So the wash and the box play a pretty important role in randomization. It was interesting what one of the posters over there said.
