Re: happy and right
I agree with you Bodhi. To claim "there is no God" is a statement of faith. To be an atheist is to be a man of faith. I don't do faith very well, so I call myself agnostic. ...

Re: Is it better to be happy or right?
On the surface this may be sensible enough. But how do you, in your self-imposed ignorance (I don't mean you specifically Bison), know you're not hurting anyone? What if you're unable to...

Kill Pots and Standard Deviation
I hope I've chosen the correct forum for this.
Some time ago I sat in a 5/10 game (played with a full kill). My roommate was already in the game, and in the midst of a "rush" with the $10 kill...

Re: The Butcher
I see your point.
My usual play in a multiway pot with top pair is to try to thin the field.
My rationale for leading out is:
A. The pre-flop raiser may raise (if only to slow me down), and...

My guess is that the LMP limper put you on an overpair and flopped top two.

Re: JTs on the button
Because the game is short handed you have to call. In a limit game, the rule is: The less players at the table, the more bluffing is part of the game. This guy may be taking a shot to steal with a...

Re: Should I call for this one outer?
You are right. The other guy is an idiot. Count the money. Even if a 2 was good (which it wasn't) giving you 3 outs, the pot is only laying you 6 to 1 (6 1/2 to 1 if you assume a call from turn...

Re: The Butcher
Yeah great idea. And now you've made a pot so big that the two pair draws are correct to call your big bet on the turn.
I've gotta disagree with you Mike. Better to bet right out on the flop. ...

Re: The Butcher
Do NOT CR flop. The pot is big enuff, you want to win it ASAP. Checkraise wont knock out anyone. Don't outsmart yourself. Lead out the whole way.

Free Will Theodicy
This is a term one will encounter in philosophy texts/classes, that IMO is the best answer to the problem of evil.
The idea is this: God chooses for us to have free-will. For some reason this is...

First of all, I'm not a full time pro, but I make money at poker part-time, and would like to go pro eventually if I can manage it.
I have no real moral/ethical problem with it. The other players...

Re: UTG with AA in very loose 10/20
I've seen 10/20's like this. In fact, I've played in a 10/20 in which at least three consecutive hands were capped (5 bets) pre-flop, at least 7-way action.

Backraise
If you are really that confident that there will be a raise if you limp, then I'd play for a back-raise. Your hand is so much stronger than any other that you get a ton of pre-flop equity. Make the...
