I sensed Tex Barch was the dark horse since a couple of days ago.

I hope he wins.

I guess hanging with Layne Flack might be good for your game.

He defiantely seems like one of the top 2 left. If Black can't come back and win it, I'd be happy with Tex taking it down.

Missed the Black badbeat, what happened???

[/ QUOTE ]

Hand 125 - Steve Dannenmann has the button in seat 8, Barch raises to $600,000, Dannenmann calls, and Black calls. The flop comes 9s-6c-5c, Black bets $1,000,000, Barch folds, and Dannenmann sits still, looking at the cards. He doesn't look that interested, but after a little while he quietly says, "All in."

Now Black lifts his sunglasses up on his head, and starts taking the situation more seriously, studying the board with a wry smile. Dannenmann is smiling back at him a bit, which he's done a lot tonight. Finally, Black confidently says, "I call."

Black shows 10s-9h (top pair), while Dannenmann has As-6s (second pair). Dannenmann needs to catch a six, an ace, or running spades to win this pot, which could be the largest of the tournament so far.

The turn card is the 3c, and Dannenmann needs to catch a six or an ace (5 outs) to stay alive.

The river card is the Ac, and Dannenmann makes two pair to take a huge pot from the Irishman Andrew Black.

Perhaps it would be a good time to point out that MTTs weren't something I usually played in when I actually still played a fair amount of poker. I've probably played in 3, tops.

There's a reason I said it was just my opinion, and I'm more than happy to admit that I'm wrong.

That's the part I thought was bad. It's not at all guaranteed to be a coinflip. I was just saying you are hoping for a coinflip in that spot. It's very easy after the cards are turned over.

People on these forums should lighten up.

I think at least it will be double that, if not more ... I think play will slow down once it gets 3 handed (if there's no clear short stack) or 2 handed, particularly if Kanter or Dannemann get knocked out beforehand ... the blinds are still very small relative to the stack sizes.

The WSOP is becoming a joke, rather than several hundred of the best players in the world it's now several hundred of the best + several thousand complete idiots and celebrities. The very nature of poker says the odds of one of the better players winning is very small.

This would be like the NCAA playoffs allowing eery single division I, II, and III school, every junior college, every high school, and every junior high school basketball team in one big tournament. What are the odds of the best team actually winning it?

I disagree. Raiser could have anything and is going to be aggressive, even UTG, Caller folds most of the time, and you can make this squeeze play for FE a lot of the time.

Hell, Harrington did it with 62o in a near full-handed table.

Of course Hachem is tight and prone to calling to reraises, you fold.

If you're talking about the A6 vs T9 hand earlier, while it's loose, it's by no means bad considering the bet out of the BB could be from someone trying to steal on a ragged flop, 965.

In the second one, the guy said he was trying a delayed bluff, and luckily picked up some outs on the turn. Not terrible, considering Raymer's aggressive.

Third one, I already explained the squeeze play concept.

Of course, none of these are automatic, and you get lucky when you're called, and great players picks their spots better, but these aren't terrible.

It's getting late but it's still packed in there and the crowd are still intrigued but starting to realise the time. Johnny Grooms the director and announcer offers to buy them all drinks from the bar but quickly retracts that - it would be a hell of a bill. Sorry we can't bring more photos of the action but with the TV cameras rolling it's dark and there are no flashes allowed. [censored] i've been listening from the start - and other than harman and...ummmm...whoever, and the asian guy - it's been great

[/ QUOTE ]

No way, that guy provided one of the biggest laughs when he was apparently complaining about how Mikey said he can't speak english, but no one could understand what he was talking about.

Rest assured that it was very hard for Phil to tear himself away from the spotlight and he is likely already thinking of coming back.

The players take a 15-minute break before the blinds increase to $120,000-$240,000, with a $40,000 ante. These are the highest blinds in World Series of Poker history.

Will they keep going up? Someone posted that 100k/200k were the highest.

[/ QUOTE ]

i'm pretty sure they keep on moving up

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, Jenny did ask Phil if he thought they would get to 500k/1m, but that could have been mere blondiosity.

Given that I have roommates, I have to listen at a reasonable volume... I'd like to thank Flack for [censored] screaming every time he opens his mouth; he's like twice as loud as everyone else.
