I won an entry into Event #5 $500 NL Holdem through the FPP sats. I'm still working on Event #7. Not going to put up $530 in cash, but would still like to win my way.

Must be very satisfying to get in effectively for free. Nice one.

I'm playing only event #3 because limit holdem is the only game I can play reasonably well. It will easily be the biggest tourney I've played in my 8 months of "serious" poker.

I have some questions about the satellites, though:

1 - It seems like the turbos would be almost a crapshoot, with the blinds going up so fast. Can you change your strategy to make up for this?

2 - In the rebuys, would it be a good idea to play more hands before the first break? If all that matters is getting in the top 3, then I think it might be worth it to try and build a big stack early on.

Got into events #1, #3, #6, and #8 through satellites.

Willing to buy into #5. Want to play #10 and #11 (who doesn't) and will be hitting the satellites hard for those.

Only if I win a seat through a satellite..I don't plan on paying my entry.

Saving my money for my trip for the Legends of Poker in LA.

Just looking for opinions here. I won another $530 and I am thinking of either playing one of the pot or no he limit events in addition to the limit $215 or trying to win another satellite and play the limit 1k. I am pretty good at pl and nl but I am probably a bit better at limit.

Questions:

1. Since I have not played tourneys bigger than $275 and I am just trying to have a shot at a slightly bigger prize do you think if I win another satellite I should play the $530pl and the $530nl to spread my chances of cashing rather than the 1k limit?

2. What will the skill level of the 1k limit be do you all think? I feel like in limit tourneys I can hold my own against most people.

Best Regards

I think you should stick with your big guns. If limit is your best game, then try to go for the 1K. Play a few more satellites and try to win another W530. If you don't, then either buy-in the difference with cash, or play in one of the 530 events.

In my opinion, the easiest way to make W530 is through the $22 + rebuy turbo satellites. They are frequented by many terrible players.

I actually played in an 80FPP 1st round satelite and qualified to round 2. Then came in top 9 in round 2 for a $530 seat. I unregistered and played in some cash satelites with the tourney money. Won another $530 seat, a $1000 seat and a couple $215 seats. Unregistered from the $1000 seat and registered for the $530 NL and $530 PL events. Used some of the tourney dollars to try and win a seat to the main event, coming close, but no luck.

So, the events that I'm playing in all from just 80FPP's:

Event 1 $320 PL Omaha H/L (270th out of ~630)
crippled early when board showed JxxQJ with 3 clubs. Guy raised on the turn when the third club came which gave me a set of Q's. Put him on the flush. With my QQxx, the river gave me the Q high boat. He then only bet 90 and I told myself that he had JJ but still raised him and he reraised and I called with him showing JJ. Left me short stacked early and I battled to last another hour and a half.

Event 2 $215 NL HE Heads Up
Event 3 $215 Limit HE
Event 5 $500 NL HE
Event 7 $500 PL HE

I still have some tourney dollars that I will use to try and win a satelite to the main event.

Good Luck everyone!!!!
