"Also, after the ring game, everyone puts their chips on the table, and I do a count to verify that the cash in equals the cash out. Don't ask me what I would do if the didn't balance out"
Start thinking about it. Accidents happen- we will assume no intentional theft- and you should know what you're doing with shortages and surpluses |

Ok just for now say I want to run 10 person tournaments with T1000 or maybe T1500 to start. Any recommendations for that?
Btw do these companies that do custom chips deliver to the UK? |

I'm sure they will ship to you. I don't know what it will cost.
Code:

CHIPS PER PLAYER Buy in $1,000 $1,200 $1,500 $2,000 Chip $5 20 20 20 15 $25 16 16 16 13 $100 5 7 10 6 $500 2

10 players- 200 red, 160 greeen, 100 black, 20 purple plus a few more black and purple to color people up in later stages. I have 20 reds for later antes if you use them and to cut down on making change constantly. Add whites and whatever remaining chips you need for your cash games. |

Ok say in total 50 chips (25 $5, 15 $25, 10 $100) per player and a budget of $400. What can I get ?
Are custom chips out of the question for that price ? |

$400 for $500 chips? You could probably get the Clay-Pro "Fan of Cards" series from 5StarDeal for that much. Last I saw, they were going for $.75 each, so $375 for 500 chips (if I got my math right).
Nice clay chips, but no edge spots. Seems to me that your custom chip choices are limited to hotstamping initials or a limited set of designs for that price. Real custom inlays (such as PokerChips.com or anything from ChipCo) will probably be outside your budget. |

Well $400 is more of a guide than a strict budget. I would go higher if it got something I preferred.

One piece of wisdom when purchasing chips that I'd recommend is to not get too many denominations. The common mistake is to get 4-5 denominations, with roughly the same number chips in each denomination. A better, more functional set of chips only needs 3 denominations, and 70-80% of the chips should be in the lower denominations. That will give you a very flexible set.
If you're playing mostly structured limit Hold'em games, I'd recommend mimicking the chips you'd see at a casino, even though it might appear to be a little vanilla of a set. In most 1-4, 3-6 games, you mostly see $1 chips on the table. In fact, probably 90% of the chips are $1 chips, then there are a handful of 50c chips for blinds, and another handful of $25 or $100 "value-holding" chips. So if you want to have a set that accommodates 10 people, get like a 500 chip set with say 420x $1 chips, 40x 50c chips, and 40x $25 chips. This will save a lot of constant chip swapping in and out of the pot, and make the game play better. |

I agree with this. I got the "clay" ones from Ebay which I'm quite satisfied with. They are nowhere near clay but for my budget they were good a little over $100 for 500.
Anyway, they come standard with 5 colors in denominations I'm not sure of. You can custom order them in any count you want (maybe they have to be multiples of 50 not sure). I got four colors 200 red 200 blue 50 green and 50 yellow (Go Ducks!). I find that three colors will do. I have to make change at times, and the bigger chips just don't get used much because people try to hold onto them. I think going something like 250-200-50 would be better. |

I would suggest the 11.5 composite chips from Ebay. There are good looking and you can get 500 for 90-110. I only order through 5 star and have ordered two sets with fast shipping and they will give you whatever colors you want. I have seen better deals from other dealers but their feedback was bad. Good luck
