I call.

All pushing the flop does is get worse hands to fold.

He could just be checking to see if you have AK or were just stealing iwth any two and be putting you to the test.

He could also have 88-QQ and think he's best.

I call because I think I'm ahead and I want him to put more chips in the pot on the turn at which time I'll put him all in.

If an A comes off I won't like it, but I won't change my line.

If he checks I'm betting the rest of his stack.

He may have a set, but I crush his range overall.

Regards,
Woodguy

If we are talking about me, personally, I would have folded pre flop. Given this situation, I would not be so aggressive with the 7s. As long as hero keeps tossing chips into the pot, I am content to call him. I might consider pushing if the turn and river are low cards as well, but probably not until then.

No apologies. Just the way I play.

Although I agree with you about his hand range, I don't see any reason for pushing, basically you are only called if you are beat, I would call here and see the turn and go from there.

Yes, pushing should be out of the option. If you are going to call this bet at all, it has to be flat called and played for a WA/WB situation.

Well, I think what clouded my judgement here was that the flop was only 7 high, so I figured him for an overpair that he would have trouble laying down and pushed. Unfortunately I was right but that overpair was AA and I didn't improve.

For what it's worth, the turn and river came QT so I regardless if I called or push, I'm sure I'd have gotten the chips in the middle at some point.

Now the only thing that crossed my mind (very briefly) was that I'd still be the chip leader if I folded on the flop, but with 150 left and 14 seats it'd still be a long road.

If I learned one thing from all this, is that with deep stacks folding unimproved overpairs once in awhile isn't a terrible thing.

I think that was rough luck but there's not much you can do about it. You raised preflop and it came out raggedy, Your bet on the flop looks and smells like a continuation bet with AK or AQ or something. His re-raise looks like he's checking to make sure you actually have something. I'd push here probably, or at least call. You just ran into a monster

I was thinking push, but the WA/WB line makes more sense.
Look, it doesn't matter if he's the chip leader or not if there's a strong shot you're ahead.
Both of you having such huge stacks, you can probably play it with a lighter touch so you don't lose a ton if you're beaten, but damn, what's with all the "folding KK to a check-raise on a 7 high flop" advice? Nobody considers that chip leader might be playing back assuming you missed and can't call his raise? Or there's enough chance he's doing this with 88-QQ? Or any number of other hands, as others have already mentioned?
Bummer about the results I guess but I don't see folding here.

Yeah, I mainly just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy since some other people I talked to leaned towards folding. But I suspect they were being results oriented.

I think the villan played it perfectly too, considering the steal position, continuation bet and everything.

The lone person who suggested fold is the only person to have made the "short-term" right move. LOL

The result should not change anyones opinon, though. Being skewed by Results Oriented Thinking is the downfall of many players.
