First hand after the 2nd break, SB just moved to the table and he's in the top ten I believe. I had joked with him that I don't steal and he should fold his blind.

I can't believe the SB would put me on such a strong hand, and would check-raise with a large number of weaker hands, such as smaller over pairs or A7. I'd guess he'd also slow play a set there with no obvious draws.

So what range of hands can you put him on?

This is an easy push. If he has AA, well, then that's poker. Same thing if he hit a set. SBs range here is so wide. 67s, 87s, 97s, 22-JJ, A7s, A7o, A3s, A3o, A2s, A2o.

I think SB will show you a worse overpair or TPTK often enough to make a push possible in this spot. I just see no other way to play it, but feel free to enlighten me.

You gotta push here. Especially since you were "stealing," his range can be wide here and you can't give up on this hand.

Hands that you have beat that he could be holding- 44-66 88-QQ, A7, 45 ... or a complete bluff.
Hands that have you beat that he could be holding- 22, 33, 77, AA

Unless hes very sophisticated, I dont see him having AA here. Only hands were looking at is 22, 33, and 77. Given that he just called your raise, he could very well have one of these hands. But then again, he could have anything. Only problem is, you are drawing to a 2 outer if you are behind. Without a read, albeit its tough, Im probobly laying it down. You are clashing with the other chip leader ... and if you continue on in this pot, it will be for all your chips. You will be crushed if you lose this hand, although you will still be in contention. It might be a slight +EV to call here, but Im chalking it up and waiting for a better spot.

Yup. I dont know, I just dont feel that that player would make a move on such a flop with just a decent hand. I mean, put yourself in his shoes, (assuming hes a decent-good player, which I assumed based on their chit chat) would you want to risk your tournament against a bigger stack on a marginal hand? I mean, hes certainly not desperate here.

I dont care if he flips over 84o ... I think its a close fold here.

I agree with Kramer TM.

With no read on villain, you have to assume he has the set, and that he thinks you have a pair higher than 7. He raised to 3K to give you odds that you would be making a mistake to call.

Why are we assuming a set? If you flop a set against a pre-flop raiser who you are sure has an overpair, wouldn't:
1. betting into the pfr
or
2. check raising all in
be better plays.
