Certainly that animal army of his gets around, I wonder if he ever gets sent a bill. (Apart from when someone removes it from one of his ducks)

You guys all get your money back when you sit at my table because I don't know how to play. I do silly things like limp with pocket aces.

First, I known OnlineChamp, now PokerWiz, is a solid player, with some tilt issues. In absolute terms he is a better poker player than say Jason, but with his ego I like Jason hands down to win more money than OC lifetime. $500 heads-up matches with Danny N in Jason's future? Nope. It doesn't matter how much Onlinechamp wins he will keep playing in tough spots and blow it away.

On top of that I love to see "I'm the greatest "players like pokerwiz lose and whine about it. $30K? What a maroon.

This is the most badly disguised return since PokerFinder came back as PokerFinder2.

Good point. Another aspect of "opportunity costs" is what you miss out in life if you're spending 15 hours a day in front of your puter. How much do you value going out with friends or reading a good book? You can be doing something much less profitable, and much more rewarding with your time.

The essential quality of addiction is that it distorts ones ability to make value judgments, or at least thwarts ones power to act upon the value judgments made. For instance, while a smoker gains some measure of enjoyment from smoking, a person not addicted to nicotine cannot plausibly argue that this enjoyment measures up to what is lost, e.g., years of life (both in quantity and quality). One addicted to nicotine, however, either makes an incorrect value judgment ("Its worth a few years") or, as with me when I was a smoker, fails to conform ones behavior to a correct value judgment ("I know its bad for me, but I just cant stop myself").

Therefore, a person may be addicted to poker tho hes making money at it, and, in fact, gains some enjoyment from playing, so long as he's not correctly offsetting the costs against these benefits, or he's under some psychological compulsion to play. Obviously, a winning player, then, is less likely to be "addicted" than a losing player, since profit from the enterprise must be considered as a benefit. In other words, a player making $20 an hour at the tables should be more willing to forgo reading the Fellowship of the Ring for the Nth time in order to play poker than the guy losing $20.

Opportunity cost is doing something while at the same time giving up the opportunity to do something else. So, if I can beat a 2-4 game for 5 dollars an hour, but I can't yet beat a 5-10 game, should I play the 2-4 game for the rest of my life? . . . In other words, if I'm seventeen years old and can make $6.75 at macdonalds, but I won't make any money interning for the best lawyer, doctor, whatever in the world who has just offered me a position, should I work at MacDonalds?. . .

Duh, everyone's site (which has affiliate links) is there mostly to make money including mine. I didn't think people really saw me here as a guy that is not financially motivated so I don't think I needed to explain what should already be clear. I do enjoy taking part in the shorthanded discussions of poker and defending myself in the controversy which always surrounds me. ("Eugeneel=onlinechamp" or "eugeneel a conartist" posts for example)
Anyway I am glad I joined the forum and have the site for both entertainement and financial reasons. I thought my reputation has increased as well throughout but the encounter with miseryshiver ruined it quite a bit.
