whatever you do, don't do shrugs for your traps. overhead dumbell presses or arnold presses only. get a spot. that'll do [/ QUOTE ] Uh, OH & Arnold presses are not exercises for your traps - they are for your delts. BB/DB shrugs are more than sufficient to build traps. |

Re: Working Out
Gripper work and deadlifts are taking care of it for me, along with a bit of kettlebell work. I could do some wrist curls and reverse wrist curls, but seem to be doing fine without them.
The wristroller thing you're talking about, I used to do with a gallon jug filled with water, tied on a rope to a stick with a hole in it. I would also do it with a 10 lb. plate. Never went heavier than that, since for me it was always being held out in front of me for shoulder endurance. Definitely something you can do real cheap though, like you note. One of those laundry jugs willed with water would do it well, too. |

Deadlifts have some trap carry-over, too.

Re: Working Out
Very little.
For traps - shrugs. They are the simplest and the work the best. Keep your head looking down so you get a full range of motion. Dont do the ridiculous rotating/circular shrugs you see people doing. The only thing that motion adds to the exercise is poor form and a huge risk of hurting yourself. |

It's good but definitely not enough to completely eliminate shrugs from your routine. We need a weight-training forum here. |
