If Villain is going to fold when he doesn't improve, then there is no reason to give him a chance to improve. Raising immediately stops him from getting a chance to draw out on you.

Villain has already charged himself a good price to try to outdraw me, and I will know if he has outdrawn (or is already ahead), by his turn action. If I put money in now, then all I've done is given money to better hands. Its a moot point, most players will bet or check/call the turn with a Q after being called on the flop. Even if he check/folds unimproved QJ, we havent lost much ... but when the Q hits ... we have gained a whole lot. |
