Hey!
Wait a minute.

I thought all the books ( Sklansky, MIller, etc.,) squawk about playing the low or idiots's end of a STR8?

What gives?

Nah, seriously...when you get into a blind battle people typically way overplay their hands (as I did here, thinking that my opponent was overplaying his). There is absolutely zero chance that my opponent puts me on 34 after I raised preflop, so he may well be 3-betting the turn with A7, an overpair, trip fives, 87, etc (overpair & trip fives being the most likely culprits).

If I were in the BB with my 34s and there had been five limpers to me, I bet & got 4 callers on the flop, and this kind of action ensued on the turn, that would be a fairly easy fold (because with that many opponents it becomes more likely that at least one of them has a better straight or a full house).

Call and raise any non-pairing river.

Elaborate a bit on the benefits of this line vs. capping straight-away?

This hand would never be an easy fold on the turn unless you were facing two cold at some point, and even then it wouldn't be easy. The problem is that lots of guys, probably a majority, won't stop chucking chips with trips here.

This is what I meant. Something along the lines of I lead, raised by someone else, 3-bet by another player, coldcalled, and back to me. Not an obvious fold, but a relatively easy one IMO.
