i am 1.3 over 80k hands and have pretty much moved up. winrates are overrated. if you can beat 5/10 you can beat 10/20.

Yuck

If you can beat 5/10 for well over 2bb/100 you should be ok at 10/20. It doesnt mean you will beat it. 10/20 is a tougher and more frustrating game.

1.3BB/100 however is fairly weak I would not move up to 10/20 with this winrate. You may just be running good at 10/20 if you think it is easy.

As for the original poster I'd say wait until you have recovered from your downswing, its no fun moving up and losing double what you are use to.

When you do move up just take it easy play few tables with bad players so you get your confidence up. Starting a new limit with a solid win and winrate is fairly important for your confidence.

You just dropped 256BB at $5/$10. I would move up to $10$20 immediately. That way, you only have to win 128 BB to get back to even. If your bankroll supports it, go to even higher limits and you can win it back faster.

Thx for the sarcasm. Shouldn't there be a prerequisite # of posts before a new poster can start being a smart ass?

In case you missed part of the post I have played 100,000 hands at 5-10 with a solid winrate, not the best around but still solid.

Swings are going to happen and any limit at any time, I wasn't questioning my ability to beat the game as I know I can, I was questioning if the # of hands needed differ from shorthanded to full in determining your true winrate

A similar thing happened to me during my move from 15/30 to 30/60. You've established that you can beat the game, and even after the downswing the results speak for themselves.

My advice is to move up because you know you can beat 5/10, bankroll isn't an issue and (i'm assuming) climbling the ladder is the number 1 priority right now. 10/20 is great preperation for the aggro higher limit games, you'll learn a lot there.

Glad to see you're doing well after deciding to stop zillion tabling 2/4

Do you have your head on straight after dropping 256BB? I certainly wouldn't. In fact, I'd be taking a break and coming back to 3/6. I recently moved up to 10/20 myself, and you got be razor sharp in that game in my experience.

i only skimmed the beginning of your post.

you are totally wrong and approaching it the wrong way.

you should move up as soon as you have enough bankroll. just save enough that you can move down to your last winning level.

this is the way to make the most money in poker.

s oi read some more post and i gotta say stfu to all these ppl that think winrate is a good determinate of if you should move up.

oh...you are only at 1.3... you better stay down a level. total bs. you got the bankroll, just do it. if you lose then move down.

No its much better to move up and then make 0.5bb/100 instead or even lose.

The players are better as you move up, your winrate wont increase and for a marginal winner you will likely lose from being outplayed.

I'm sure your confidence will be skyhigh as well, being on an emotional rollercoaster of high variance poker.
