I wouldn't figure BB would slowplay flopped trips.
I think it's very possible he has a 9 when he bets the turn. Many low limit players think tricky is the way to go and thus try to slowplay or at least check raise every hand better than one pair. Obviously the 3rd 9 falling on the river makes it less likely B has a 9 though. |

I'm not thinking he'd slowplay it at all. 3 people to act after him, he could be thinking checkraise, then when that fails he bets out on the turn. Now when Homer just calls on the turn, he has no idea how strong the BB really is.

This is why, after the flop gets checked around, I like the idea of raising the turn. That in itself might win the hand by getting an 8 to fold.

[/ QUOTE ] You know, you're absolutly right on this. I know because I used to try to do it all the time! I learned the hard way that slow playing too much at low limits just leads to heart burn and a smaller bankroll. Now, for the most part, I bet my good hands and hope someone else is the jackass trying to slowplay! |

I would be shocked if a 2/4 player on Party bet the turn with an 8 then folded to a raise.
What are you going to do if you get 3-bet? You could be drawing dead or you could have 13 outs, and his 3-bet won't really narrow down the possibilities much. I don't think that's a very good position to put yourself in. |

I would've bet the flop. If check-raised on the turn, I'd lay it down against most opponents.
Since you didn't bet the flop, I would've raised the turn and checked it through on the river. I think raising the turn could get an 8 to fold behind you, and maybe even an 8 in your opponents hand. Sure beats calling the turn and river. |

OK, I wasn't even thinking that my 7d might be good for the flush. Maybe I'd rather keep the pot small here and not want him to fold an 8 or 9.

Always cut the cards, Woodie. You may lose anyhow - but not as often, nor as much. And when you do lose, smile.

Not doing so certainly made the rest of the hand more difficult to play...
this is very true. as for the main question, it's way too player dependent to be all that valuable a puzzle. |

I'd bet the flop here.
I like the river raise, A5 w/ the Ad could have played the hand like this or any 8. |
