Party 2/4. I'm dealt 7s 7d in MP. EMP limps, I limp, button limps, SB completes and BB checks. Five to the flop.
Flop - 8d 9c 9d Checked around. Turn - 5d BB bets, only I call. River - 9s BB bets, I raise, BB calls. -- Homer |

I'd bet that flop just about every time. Given that you didn't, I think your turn and river play were good.

As I was posting this, I wondered why I didn't bet the flop. Not doing so certainly made the rest of the hand more difficult to play...

Slummin' in 2-4 Homer? I haven't been on since the power went out, but on thursday, the 3-6 was still pretty juicy?
question, ok, you bet the flop, all fold to BB who calls, you get C/R'd on the turn, what to do, what to do? What if the turn wasn't a 3rd diamond and you get C/R'd? This type of situation has been troubling me recently as I've been bluffed a few times by a ragged C/R on the turn once it became heads up. |

I like the river raise. I would've bet the flop. As it is, I don't really have an idea where I am on the turn. Since the flop was checked around the BB's turn bet can mean anything, and depending on my feel for the table, I'd be tempted to raise there.

The check around on the flop tells me that no one has an 8 or a 9. The [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] on the turn is scary. When you fill up on the river, I don't see any reason why your hand isn't good, if he had a bigger pocket pair, he whould have at least bet the flop. I'd put him on the flush and play it the same way.

The problem is, the way the action went down, Homer can't be sure the BB doesn't have the case 9 until he just calls the river raise (unless the BB is a total weenie and is scared of the str8 flush).

Who knows, maybe checking the flop made the decisions easier this time. You'd have a hard choice to make if you bet the flop, then got check raised on the turn by the BB. I still think a flop bet was definitely the best play.

Not to mention that the BB could easily have played an 8 this way. Because of that I think the river raise is a close decision, but still a good one.

I wouldn't figure BB would slowplay flopped trips. What else would make you think that he had a nine?
