Default Re: How playable is 5/10 full?

I've never played 5/10 full on party, so I won't speak about the beatability of that.

However,in my experience, there are some very good 15/30 tables. I think a good, tight, 2+2er can beat certain 15/30 tables for a significant amount if he is patient and has some SH experience. The biggest difference I noticed between 15/30 and lower limits was that random bullshit bluff raising, but the chronic ones are easy to catch (especially when they bluff raise your nuts).

Probably just random rambling. All the 15/30 tables I've sat at have been because I felt like I had a significant advantage poth preflop and postflop, although I guess you can't tell just by watching a few orbits.

I don't know where you guys are playing 5/10. They all seem pretty retarded to me.

I was thinking about this more last night.

I don't think that the 5/10 full game is bad. I am puzzled as to why others do.

What I have come up with is this. If you come from a micro-limit, 1/2, 2/4 , 3/6 heavy multi-tabling background; 5/10 full is probably the first place where auto-pilot will kill you and standard lines can cost you money.

At 5/10 reads are not a way to enhance your winrate, they are the only way you are going to make a decent earn. Standard lines and spotty reads, will maybe break you even, but not much more.

Hand reading, creatively extracting value, and yes the dreaded weaktight concept of saving bets, all have more importance. The other thing is that the games are not homogenous; ie people talk about how "The 2/4 game plays like this", that is not the case at 5/10, some of the games play very weak, others exceptionally strong.

Also as has been touched on earlier, you have to revaluate your table selection criteria. If you are looking for 3-5 40% VPIP players, you are not going to find many tables (that said these are out there, I find one almost every other dday).

Another thing is many of the High VPIP players are also aggressive, and they know some plays. They are still net losers, but they know how to make you uncomfortable in a hand (and enjoy doing so).

So for somebody who plays 5-8 tables at a lower limit, 5/10 is going to be a change of pace. But as I said in a post a couple months back, to call these games "tough" is kind of an overstatement.

Thank you, that was one of the first spportive answers I have heard in a while.

That's what I am trying to point out. Thank you for this hand exsample. I think it;s great that this guy is calling w/ 85. He got lucky and won a pot, but I have been seeing a great deal of this at 5/10 tables this week and I have been on the losing end of AA KK, QQ against 63off, etc...
