How playable is 5/10 full?

Sorry. This isn't really a strategy post, and I'd use the search function, but I want the latest. And at least I'm dropping this in the forum around midnight.

At 5/10, when I can even find an open seat, I spend a lot of my time opening a table, playing two orbits, then saying "The hell with this," and leaving. Things are better during the weekends, but I'm starting to think there aren't many good tables available during the week.

I know Josh (sthief09) thinks 5/10 full is a crappy game, and I'm starting to think he's right.

It's no big deal. I prefer full to short (I'm one of those weird people who prefers the pace of full tables and also the relative anonymity), but I can play a mix of 3/6 full and 3/6 6-max for awhile, while I decide what to do next.

But I thought I'd see what you guys had to say about 5/10 full first, instead of just relying on my own observations.

I put in about 1000 hands last week and I thought the game was terrible.

You're better off playing 5/10 6-max and then moving to 10/20 full.

Screw 5/10. Stay at 3/6 until you have the roll for 15/30.

I guess I'll add to this post. I've recently been playing 5/10 full on party and so far, my experience with it is that there aren't many good tables. I don't know but people just seem to be really tight and aggressive, I mean almost everytime I limp I get isolated. It kinda makes me want to play tighter than usual but it's odd as sometimes you catch people playing really aggressive, ie. stealing with really marginal holdings, mp2 open raise Q9o. I can stick with 5/10 full but if there's a better game out there...

I probably can handle 5/10 6max and will be willing to put in the time to improve my SH game. Like what the OP said, what are peoples' thoughts on this?

Nick,

I just delved into 5/10 for the first time over the past couple of days. I didn't run all that well but over about 1,000 hands I found the games to be significantly tighter, more aggressive, and trickier than anything at 3/6.

Yeah, that's about how many hands I have, and I'm reaching the same conclusion.

Too tight and very rockish. Big fish are rare.

The lack of big fish was the worst thing I noticed.

One guy I played with at a semi-decent weekend table that at least contained a couple of loose players (that the rest of us took turns playing against) now has stats of 7/6/2 in my PT database after 212 hands.
