Re: Best chips for the money.
I just picked up a set of the 10g Six Stripe (Sopranos) chips and I am very impressed with them. They have a great feel and weight, without the "clink" of composite chips with metal inserts. I also like the texture of the chip itself, almost a rubbery feel -- which might sound bad, but the chip-on-chip friction that results makes them behave even more like clay chips in your hand and on the table. On top of that, the distinctive look of the six stripe design is an added aesthetic bonus.
Sounds like a ginned-up customer testimonial, but what can I say, I dig the chips. |

These are worth a look (IMO) Watch e-bay and you can get them for around .10 a piece... LV chips I picked up 1000 for home tourneys, although I have yet to use them... [/ QUOTE ] I used those in a home game the other night and they werent bad. The link you provided has an $80 shipping charge w/out the case. Best deal would be to get two of the 500's w/ case for $70 total. |

Re: Best chips for the money.
For cost, the best cheap chips are probably the faux clay dice; not much to look at but good feel, sound and stackability. I've heard that you can mark them up decently with a sharpie but most colors end up looking black on the chips; someone on www.chiptalk.net was testing this.
For looks, Nexgens are pretty good especially with a custom label which increases their security. I've noticied differences in feel between the Las Vegas Nexgens compared to the RPT Nexgens. I believe the Bee's are more similar to RPT's but I've never actually handled the new Bee's. As for other chips, I have about 2k worth of the BPC Neophytes which I really like. I think they are near the top of the cheap chip (< .30) list. I believe the Kingpins at www.acehighsupply.com are identical but don't have labels. I also have about 1k worth of the 9g Las Vegas ProClay chips and these are also decent chips with good looks, stackability and price but they are rather slick to the touch. If you really want to move up a notch, take a look at www.thepokerchipcompany.com (good quality chips but look like cheap quality chips), www.pokerchips.com (R E A L clay chips for .35/chip) and www.nevadajacks.net (the run sales on the Desert Sands and Dead Man ceramics now and then for around < .50/chip). As in any chip purchase, GET SAMPLES and decide for yourself. Good luck. |

Re: Best chips for the money.
I am starting to run games as a business and have 1500 Nexgens for security games (labels soon) and 1500 Faux Clay Chips for the average players. The Nexgens look pretty nice which is a good thing when people are paying you to run their tournament or game. Besides you can charge a bit extra and call them deluxe chip Vs standard chips. The Nexgens feel ok and are not quite as good as I had envisioned. The Faux Clay chips are plain and not very pretty but actually feels quite good. I haven’t had a chance to play with either that much but like the feel of the ugly ones. If I was buying for myself and a moderate amount of money was not an issue then I would purchase chips from The Poker Chip Company in Torrance CA. They make two models of clay chips and I think they are the best you will find for the money. The looks aren’t bad but boy do they feel great and stack great. Your first reaction is “Yah Baby, now these are chips”. I wished I could have bought them but when you need 3000 chips the money adds up too fast. They have two styles that are clay #1003 and #1006 and I think they still send samples.
