Best chips for the money.

We run a regular 12-16 man tourney followed by side action and began playing with the basic 11.5 g dice chips and are now using 11.5 g suited and looking to get something new and much better. We have been looking at the Nexgens.

I have read a few reviews that rate them very high, and an excellent value.
Any thoughts on this matter. For less than a $.25 they look very nice. Thanks

They are better than the dice chips but not by much. They are the same basic construction (metal slugged behind plastic) but the styles are better and they have a recessed center for custom labels.

How much do you want to spend and what is important to you?
- Looks
- Feel
- Sound
- Security
- Cost

Cost, look, and feel. Like to keep the cost around or under $.25/chip. We also have a set of 500 custom Nevad Jack style that were about a buck a piece - but 500 is not nearly enough for our game. Any other suggestions?

If you want good cheap chips, try looking either at the 'faux clay' (6c per chip) or the 10g Soprano Chips (10c per chip).

Both can be found through 5stardeal

Is security an issue for you. If these are a bunch of guys you know and trust then I agree withthe guy who said "faux clay". They lack a bit of style but they feel and stack great and they are cheap. The super diamonds are also nice. If, however, security id an issue then I would suggest the Nexgens because they are ideal for putting on custom labels.

Good luck

Faux Clay, Super Diamond, or 10g Sopranos would be my picks.

If security is an issue, you can also get the Super Diamonds hot stamped.

The ones I just bought, after looking around and buying a test sample of the Soprano as well as the Nexgens were the Neophyte line from BuyPokerChips.

The link is here:

They cost just over .25 a chip - but feel much nicer than the Nexgens. They feel about the same as the Soprano line, to my fingers anyway. I like the look of them - but they also come with labels preinstalled. For me that was a good thing - I understand for others it's not. The lablels have a laquor over them, so they don't scratch at all. I've played through a few (3?) different evening games now with them and am quite happy.

Re: security, it is really quite easy to get custom chip labels made for your chips. I've had custom labels on my dice striped composite chips for over a year now, and they have held up incredibly well (we have 20 person games every week). I am completely satisfied with them.

Re: Best chips for the money.

I've read posts on chiptalk where people swear that you can put labels on faux clay despite the fact that there's no recessed center.

However, as much as I love my faux clays for a friendly game, I think doing so would be a major PITA. So, I agree with the other poster -- if you want security, either look for some NexGens (I think you can find them for as little as 13c a chip) or hotstamp the diamonds.

These are worth a look (IMO)

Watch e-bay and you can get them for around .10 a piece...

LV chips

I picked up 1000 for home tourneys, although I have yet to use them...
