I have been playing .50/1.00 Average VPIP of players is about 32-34%. Average pots were about 7-8 BB.

That's not too loose dude. That's too tight. You were exepriencing some bad luck over a small sample size. Your memory is playing tricks on you and the bad beats are remembered while the routine "bet with top pair and everybody folds" is forgotten. Get those pots >10-11BB's and 50%+ players seeing the flop and you have a loose game. You can still use SSH strategies on protecting your hand though...

Anyone else cleared the bonus there?

a ton of them. they aren't all that hard, really, it just may take a bit more time at .5/1, but at 1/2 it's a cinch.

ignore all the newbies bitching about PokerRoom. it's fine. the fish are stupid, but there's lots of money to be made.

The $2/$4 games are just as loose as the $1/$2, and you'll clear the bonus much faster. A $1 rake gets you 1 point, but a .50-.95 rake only gets half a point. At $2/$4 you'll be earning a full point almost every hand.

plus their tournament structure is awesome (not that I play them...)

my roommate last year used to buy into a $22, take a shower, come back and win it. they're very slow, and the players are pretty poor for the most part. I heart canada

34VPIP 7-8BB pot is def. a fine game

I think a large reason ppl struggle when they move up out of .5/1 is that they view that game as bad

I play mainly 6max, 3/6 now and my 35k of mining has the ave pot around 6BB, 45% seen flop .. and the games are good

Sounds about right in my experience. I recently returned here to clear some bonuses off my points and forgot how fishy the games were. In the evening 8-10 EST, play is usually pretty fat. I started off there cold and in the red for about 1000 hands and then it picked up nicely. Play is usually very loose and adds to your variance.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll stick with it but I dont have the bankroll to try the 2/4 tables. I've been doing 2 x 0.5/1 and 2 x 1/2 tables and have just over 800 points to clear. So far im down though by $60... I have to say i agree with Canada a bit in that people are calling me down with terrible hands even after a re-raise pre-flop people still cold call with 84o. Problem is they beat my AA. Anyway i guess that's poker!

I'll stick with it on the low levels and hopefully turn a profit.

Once again, thanks for the input/advice.

Default is $1/2 all that much different than .5/$1?

i'm asking here because i'm trying to clear the bonus at Ultimate Bet and it is taking FOREVER. i have the bankroll for it, but i'm not sure if i'm good enough.

i've heard it is uber-tight, but i'm just wondering?
