If you are really that worried about a higher flush, you should probably raise for information (which in general sucks, but what can you do). Calling off all your chips is guaranteed to make you feel like a donkey.
FWIW, I would certainly think you have the best hand here, but you are in no way obligated to play it. You were the BB, you have very little invested, throw it away on the flop if you want to. That would be incredibly weak tight, but no one will ever know and you can find a spot for your money later that inspires more confidence. |

hey anacardo,
i appreciate your advise. I probably played it poorly. i check raised all in on flop and was beat by a higher flush. the turn and river ended up being two rags, so i may have been doomed anyway (being that i never have folded a flush without the 4th flush card coming up or board pairing). He didn't seem to be particularly tight being that he showed jh 6h in early position, but he was up a buy-in at the time. |

there are 28 better flush combinations versus all the possible A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] draws, sets, pair, two pair hands that you can be getting some value from. i play it like i would a top pair top kicker type hand out of position on a fairly ragged board. bet the flop for the pot, get ready to let go if you face heavy action from tight/unknown players, check/call the turn, value bet the river if the turn was checked. if the turn was bet, sometimes lead the river for a blocking bet, sometimes check call a bet and sometimes check fold.

My first instinct was to raise (probably because I'm tired), but I think I like a call since you have position and see how the turn develops. You're obviously likely best here, so play the hand and see how much money you can get in the middle.

Thank you all for your input. I now see this is a hand to laydown in certain situations (but not many). Sounds to me like laying this hand down should be about equivalent to laying qq down pre-flop.
