In party 5/10 the easies way to spot a moron is if they ever open-limp or cold-call preflop.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is silly and wrong.

At 1-2, its pretty easy to pick out the clueless. Playing K3o, any two cards pretty much. Last to act and checking when they have the nuts. Some would say "Anyone playing 1-2 is inherently clueless."

So wrong it's not even funny.

3-6, its the guy calling A-10o to two raises cold or 89s UTG at an aggro 2 or 3 to the flop table.

[/ QUOTE ]

Or calling with ATo period. Sounds like you're not the greatest player either.

you're wrong, and you're a dick.

Can't tell for higher limits, but I've spotted some (quite obvious, but anyway) tells from 5/10 and 10/20 6-max: limping (open limp on the button anyone? that's my favourite), coldcalling, playing soft and predictably. At 10/20 such guys get shaven rather fast.

I am unfortunately still far away from spotting subtler leaks. At higher limits, players are probably quite aware of their table image and any 'leaks' in their play (eg. too many failed turn semibluffs in a session, getting cold decked and folding a lot etc.) and play back accordingly.
I am guessing that tilt is the most useful leak you can spot and take advantage of in a game where only few mistakes are made. Few bad beats, one's play detoriates and you could pick up an extra BB or two.

Ya know...... this type of crapola is what I don't like about 2+2, or internet boards in general.

The OP had an interesting question..... Let's take it on some stupid tangent to show off or smart off or just be a dick for some reason!!

i don't play those higher limits, but when a pf raiser checks the flop, that sets off an alarm in my head that i'm either a) getting trapped, or b) playing an idiot.

A good one that I have noticed is if a player reraises with middle pair against a solid player.

Would everyone agree that a preflop all-in is usually a strategy used by weaker players as well (unless you are dealt AA and it is a call to all-in)?

In a cash game, preflop all-in in a cash game.

unless you're short-stacked for whatever reason or it's one of those raise/re-raise battles, but yeah.

When you notice people making fundemental mistakes:
Calling, raising or reraising when they should fold
Continually failing to bet hands for value
Calling without getting pot/implied odds
Playing too many hands before the flop
Failure to lay down hands in obvious situations
Giving action to the tightest player at the table
Bluffing too much
Overcalling with hopeless hands
