Hi Danny,

Barring no read, the river play is a check as it is clear your opponent has gone into defensive mode with what is most likely a smaller pocket pair than KK.

Your math is off because he beats AJ and AT by checking. he is only trying to induce AK to fold.

Definite check. There will be much better spots than this to bet the river with strong Aces unimproved for value so you'll still get called by weak'ish pairs and other A-highs when you have a real hand on boards w/<2 broadways. Of course most of your opponents aren't paying attention anyway, but for those who are you can find better spots. A bet here definitely has a negative expectation in and of itself and by too much to justify making your opponents call down w/weak holdings later on against you.

No reads? It's a clear check....reasons have been given already.

However, I felt I needed to chip in and say I'm finding a bet to be pretty profitable in this situation if you read the player to be very good. If you're starting to get to the "he knows that I know" level, those pairs of 7s and 8s shrink up after the third bullet.

Sure looks like TT or JJ to me, at least often enough to make checking the proper play.
