Why would i 3 bet a flop where I'm pretty sure I'm behind?

I don't understand why you're pretty sure you're behind. In my previous post I gave a slew of hands with which the SB could be CR'ing that you beat, and none of the other players have given you good reason to think they are ahead of you either.

Plus, the 1-2 extra bets that you lose when you are behind and reraise are more than made up for by the times you are ahead and charge those drawing against you extra bets.

Why are you behind? The board is Ace nine deuce, it's not exactly the most intimidating flop in history. Find out where you're at before you decide to make any wacky laydowns.

Because the pot is big, you need to 3-bet if there is a decent chance you are ahead. You want to knock out hands like T9 and 42 that would make 2 pair on the turn or river (if possible).

Mizzles, i think the flop is an easy 3 bet, you can C/R the turn with the intention of folding to a 3 bet, which you will only get from hands that have you crushed. This makes the play more straightforward on later streets andd extract maximum value from worse aces, flush draws, and people with a 9 trying to pair their kicker.

With that many people looking you up, on a board with hardly any straight draws, you may be drawing dead. Not to mention the flush draw, even though you had back door possibility.

SB's line is fully consistent with something like AQ or AJ or another AK. You cannot lay this one down. You 3-bet pf, so other players will give you credit for a big PP more than a big A. You need to either 3-bet the flop or raise the turn and take it from there.
