Re: Flop decision: good or bad choice? Why?
You're right - my bad.
But what is the equity here? About double 1/8 - or about 25%. Putting it that way, the raise looks good from pure equity - plus any outs you can clean up with folds. |

Re: Flop decision: good or bad choice? Why?
Folding out of the question + possibility of free card if you feel like it + possibility of cleaning a couple of outs = raise

Re: Flop decision: good or bad choice? Why?
We're 3-betting for a free card? And against unknowns too...
Someone better explain why this is a good idea. EDIT: wow, I look dumb. This IS an exact hand from SSH. Guess I need to study more. |

Re: Flop decision: good or bad choice? Why?
Me likes it a lot. Its the cumulative effect of your draws here. In fact, this hand is almost right out of sshe. I've done this before. What's great is that when it comes in, your opponents look at you like a fish

I like it. And I think Ed Miller does too.

Re: Flop decision: good or bad choice? Why?
We have a lot of equity anyway, as Stack showed, I don't know that we win 25%, but it's probably close to that. So this extra bet (since we are at least calling regardless, this raise is costing us 1 bet and not 3) really is costing us, at most a fraction of a bet. Coupled with the possiblity of a free card AND out cleaning (which applies to better aces but also hands that might develop redraws to our straight, for example), which will both happen a respectable amount I think, I like the play. I would like it more if I knew something about our opponents, to echo bakku.

Quote damaniac "this raise is costing us 1 bet and not 3"
This is just wrong. The raise could easily cost 2 bets if SB or MP1 caps. |

Re: Flop decision: good or bad choice? Why?
What hand in SSH is this similar to? Can't find any 3-betting hands in there?
