Re: Speculation time! How much is Daniel N. getting paid by the Wynn
A dealer told me 300K - this after he debunked a rumor I heard that it was 1 mil. and that it was a 30 second offer that Daniel had to take or drop on the spot -
not sure about the offer, but the official rep. status is 300K - RB |

Re: Speculation time! How much is Daniel N. getting paid by the Wynn
Negreanu adamantly claims on his website that he's putting up 100% of his own money for the heads up matches. Now he doesn't say how much money he is getting paid by Wynn (which could then be used to fund his matches) but I have no reason to disbelieve his statement that he's fully staking himself.

I played with somebody from Canada who claimed he was a friend of Daniel's and he also said $300,000. FWIW.

Daniel will be in full-fledged Don Everest mode within 5 years.

Maybe Wynn gives Negreanu 10% of his losses, which happens to be the amount Negreanu lay Sklansky.

Revelation
I would guess that it is not just salary based... something along the lines of... for each freeze-out, Wynn puts up 5% of the money... leaving Daniel with an overlay of 1.05.... Daniel will take 95% of the amount of losses and gets 100% of the upside... Wynn takes it is a simple operating expense which may translate to zero if Daniel wins money or a mere small relative expense on the income statement for Wynn Resorts... a rounding error of sorts...
Now that I think about it, it looks more and more like this is just some huge publicity stunt for the opening of the Wynn poker room, to get the word out to serious poker players. Seems they want to get some flagship customers (i.e. name brand pros making that their home base). Although, judging from reports of how busy it is in there, I don't think that's so credible. Has this already been discussed? |
